I watched a documentary about this a few weeks back. Quite the story and very fucking bizarre. Not a movie I ever fancy watching.
He was charged with murder because they believed what was filmed was actually real, the first cinematic snuff movie - but was later cleared.
Cannibal Holocaust - Wikipedia
Ruggero Deodato, the director of the 1980 found footage horror movie Cannibal Holocaust, has died at the age of 83. The Italian director is famous for creating one of the first major found footage horror films, with the graphic nature of Cannibal Holocaust convincing many viewers that the movie was a real-world event. Deodato's infamous film was marred in controversy due to snuff film allegations that were coupled with genuine animal executions seen within the movie. Despite the level of controversy surrounding it, none of that stopped Cannibal Holocaust from garnering a cult following over the decades.
Despite Deodato's passing, his legacy thanks to Cannibal Holocaust will live on for horror fans with a love for found footage movies in the genre. Prior to Cannibal Holocaust, no found footage films had ever been released, marking it as the first time the public had ever seen a movie that claimed to be newly discovered footage of a horrifying situation. The premise of an American film crew disappearing in the Amazon rainforest being presented as real was so new for the time that Deodato was arrested and charged with murder due to the believability of Cannibal Holocaust. Since then, Cannibal Holocaust has cemented itself as a classic for horror aficionados who enjoy the terrifying ride the found footage film displays.
Ruggero Deodato, Director Of Cannibal Holocaust, Dies At 83
NEW YORK, Jan 1 — Anita Pointer, one of the Grammy-winning Pointer Sisters whose string of pop, country and R&B hits in the 1970s and ‘80s included I’m So Excited, Jump (For My Love) and Fire, died of cancer on Saturday at age 74, her publicist said.
Pointer was surrounded by family at her Beverly Hills home when she died, publicist Roger Neal said.
Anita was the second oldest of four sisters who started performing as the duo of June and Bonnie in 1969 and soon became a trio when Anita quit her job as a secretary to join the group, according to an official biography.
The Pointer Sisters later became a quartet for a while with Ruth, the only one of the original singing sisters still alive, though Bonnie left the group in the late 1970s and they became a trio once again. The Pointer sisters also have two surviving brothers, Fritz and Aaron.
Anita was preceded in death by her daughter Jada, who died in 2003, when Anita took over raising her granddaughter, Roxie McKain Pointer.
“While we are deeply saddened by the loss of Anita, we are comforted in knowing she is now with her daughter Jada and her sisters June & Bonnie and at peace. She was the one that kept all of us close and together for so long. Her love of our family will live on in each of us,” the family said in a statement.
The sisters grew up singing in the church of their father, a preacher in Oakland, California.
Their debut album in 1973 produced their first hit single Yes We Can Can.
Among their bigger hits were Fire in 1978, He’s So Shy in 1980, Slow Hand in 1981, and Neutron Dance, Automatic and Jump in 1983. I’m So Excited from 1982 remains a standard.
In recent years, the group continued performing with Ruth singing along with her daughter Issa and granddaughter Sadako. — Reuters

I bet you don't welcome cheats in real life
I suspect dirk only likes him because he cheated against England.
If it had been Scotland, it would be a different story.
However, since the only way Scots can qualify for a world cup these days is by being Australian, there's little chance of that ever happening.

Good time: the greatest moments of Maurice White and Earth, Wind & Fire
“He joins our brothers Maurice, Monte and Ronald in heaven and is now drumming with the angels! Child protege, member of the EWF ORIGINAL 9, with gold records at the young age of 16 years old! He was brother number 4 in the family lineup.
“But more than that at home and beyond he was the wonderful bro that was always entertaining and delightfully mischievous! And we could always count on him to make a seemingly bad situation more lighthearted!”
He added: “He will live in our hearts for ever, rest in power beloved Freddie!! We thank you all for your love, blessings and support at this time. Soar high baby bro, we love you to the shining [stars] and back!”

Ken Block Killed in Snowmobile Accident
Not sure how many here on TD are familiar with Ken Block, he was probably most well known for his Hoonigan YouTube videos.
Ken Block was an absolute legend. I play his videos quite often in the bar. I’d give my left nut for that 4x4 Mustang.
Block deserves his own thread. Ken Block dying in an accident at 55 years old isn't the same as some celebrity from the 50's that died at 95 from old age.
