RUN BOY!! and quickly too!
good luck.
Oh well, deposit paid on apartment, forty quid per month so that's eighty.
Move in end of.
Sandra's talking to me again, she says I make my own problems and that broardcasting my life on the net doesn't help and its no wonder I'm going bald.
I put my foot down with the MIL, I said, "Now just a moment Mrs S" etc.. and she has reluctantly agreed for us to live together in the apartment which is just as well as it's more in the middle of nowhere than I am now and there's kids everywhere tugging my shorts and saying "money!", so I said to one who can speak ok English...
"Are ALL Phillipino's poor?"
And he replied, "Most but not all"
So I replied, "Then what the FUCK makes you think that all us westerners are rich?"
If you think I'm full of shit I will post a photo tomorrow of me standing in the street waving a flag with the TD logo on it, though can't promise the latter.
Rather have one of the sisters please, pretty pleaseQuote:

Well one, the schoolteacher, is 30 and desperate for a boyfriend but far too fussy. Sandra tells me to talk to her and give advice as they are not close in that way. My advice was that she stop worrying and do something about it because as Morrissey once said...
"Shyness is nice - but, shyness can stop you, from doing all the things in life you'd like to"
After asking who he was I explained that he was sexually ambiguous and unobtainable and when she asked if I had any single friends I said yes, but they are all married or playboys.
She said "oh".
Smart lady -- consider yourself lucky the message wasn't delivered with a "beating about the head."
As to the MIL -- get the relationship sorted out NOW. It won't get any better; if anything, it can deteriorate. Sounds as if the most you can hope for is a chilly detente. Live far away from the in-laws. Hell, I've not lived closer than 360 miles to my own parents since I was 17 years old -- close enough to get there in an emergency but not close enough for daily contact or drop-ins.
Scampy - tell the sister you'll snap a photo and post it on TD. TD is a good spot for her to find a bf and if all else fails there is always Butterfy. :dev+ang:Quote:

Like Thais, being afraid of ghosts is the norm, so the girls have a white tin pot with a lid in which they urinate.
I on the other hand don't have a pot to piss in.

Whats all this about the MIL don't know the daughters job in HK, what a load of bs, she must do.
You just know this story isn't gonna have a happy ending.:mat:
This is great material for Scampy's next Youtube videos. :bunny3:
I'm thinkin troll as well, but sometimes trolling can be fun. I guess they have internet in the family's house in this shanty town since he is posting late at night on the forum.
They wouldn't use the words shanty town in the Philippines, they'd call it a Squatters Village more than likely. I stayed in a Squatters area next to Ayala Mall in Cebu for several weeks. It's ok, but the nearest internet cafe from a jeepney ride away and it wasn't open 24/7.
"Amongst sharks in a Philippine shanty town"
"My prostitute wife's family"
"Surviving on bjs and San Miguel beer"
"A fated Love in the slums of San Fernando"
How long ago was this? All it takes is a phone line and a laptop these days.;)Quote:

I agree. MIL knows whats what. For unemployed daughters to return home with pockets full of cash in Hong Kong makes one draw certain conclusions. (especially if she shares the cash with the family).
However, I don't agree that this isn't going to have a happy ending. I have known many Filipinas who have segued from this into having happy family lives with western husbands in Hong Kong.
Moog - you met Sandra??? :dev+ang:

A true squatters village/shanty town will not have phone lines. :)
If there's phone lines in the place he's at, it's not a real shanty town. ;)
Lap tops work off of mobile phones now aswell, even third world Thailand has that :)
^^ It is, and I've got some pictures to prove it so there.
one mans shanty town is another mans ........erm ok i havent thought of the second part yet, but it started so well
I haven't met her, but if I had, I wouldn't be discussing her merits and demerits here.
In many ways it might be advisable for TGS to discuss quietly the entire issue with friends, rather than open it up here among a group of middle-aged strangers.
It calls for some serious decision making rather than..... 'run Scampy RUN!' homilies.
Though I wouldn't want to put him off from marriage if the girl is right. Toxic Mothers in law can be set aside. Thats what I did. Some limited rapprochement usually takes place when Grandchildren emerge, and at that point one makes it clear that Daddy is the Boss of the family, not Granny.
oi ^ who are you calling middle aged? :p
I haven't met her either
if I had I would post all the pics I had...yes, all of them
Ok, here's proof I'm in the Phillipines, this is me standing up in a street outside the family home.

^ Yeah I need to start going to the gym... Did you see the Cussons Imperial Leather beside me? ...You can't get that here, I bought it back from HK.
your shanty town has a gym?

She doesn't have the phone to her ear in this one.
