It was traditional to apply lard to both keep warm and provide some protection against jellyfish stings. My mum was a sea swimmer in the 30s just pre war and larded up

Given your location and availability of it may i suggest lanolin, may also afford some ring burn protection chili wise.

Your mum was a bit of a legend, doing that - kudos. Thank you for the description

NZ? Yea . . . nah (a very Kiwi expression) Luckily I work here in KL and Singapore most of the time, so the bum-gun water is . . . just fine

PH thanks, she was building up to do the channel but war came along the land army and she never got back to it like before. She got me in the sea swimming properly at 4.

Much as Syb knows i try to be positive but the lurgy has fought back and i was up most of last night with a hacking cough. Last nights roadkill gaeng also made a comeback and i lost that too which means i'm in a sorry state and that rather pathetically i am going to have to decline my offer of Chang on toast whilst watching the election results.

It's so fokin' cold, I have to put on a t-shirt around the house in the morning nowadays.

Give me oven temperatures and walking around blissfully bollock-o any day.

Christ i'm whinging. I don't really get colds but this bastard has me good and proper, clearly a Thai based species jumping Chinese swine flu variety. 2nd night of terrible sleep coughing through most of it.
After yesterdays exertions i'm aching more than the Gent wishing for pound parity with the dollarb - taking it easy today and will probably take a leaf out of Sybs Chiang Mai retreat book and relax with a few 620s later.

Something definitely in the air, many farangs I know either have it or had it or similar, surely our glorious leaders can take time off from making the country happy to cook up some decree against it!

hahaha, they do it on purpose...

I hope you're feeling better from the lurgy - the wife has had it for well over a week, it's been pretty horrible for her (although she is a bit of a sickness wimp).

One job today is to reduce down one of the Tamarind trees, the bitter one as its not produced a single pod in its 5 years, its had its chance. I'm not taking it out completely as i'll crop it down and we can use it to harvest the lemony new growth leaves for one of my favourite curries.
The moan is that the Mrs got some one in to take out a small ish mango and custard apple for the car port works.

The fukwitt didn't top up the hydraulic oil chain resevoir and used 4 stroke oil to mix in the petrol instead of 2 stroke. I've told her never let the twats use my kit, cue puzzled sorry face.

So a quick job turns into me buying a new chain and stripping down replacing the chain he'd used dry and fired into the soil to dig out the roots, and an engine flush and luckily no apparent damage.

They truely are not to be trusted.
