I'll put it here instead of making a new thread.
went out for a ciggie an hour ago, standing in the apartment next door car park at the end of the soi. A couple of guests are leaving, packing the car. Next thing, the woman stalks past me and picks up a rock from the edge of the swamp and threatens the guy with it. He pulls out a revolver. New looking, all black, bulky. Points the gun at her head. She backs off, as do I. He lowers the gun and they continue arguing. Next thing, he hurls the gun into the swamp. I had retreated by this time to the next soi. Then went home around the block as I didn't want to walk in between them.
Woman and guy sit down, then police arrive, talk to the woman, then draw pistols and point them at the guy. Long story short, the cops cuffed the guy, talked to him, went looking for the gun and couldn't find it. They took the guy out of sight, and I waved to a cop who came over, told him I saw him throw the gun into the long grass in the swamp. A bit more discussion went on, they uncuffed the guy and left. Then the woman and the guy jumped in their car and also left.
WTF?
There's a guy who had a gun and threatend a woman with it roaming free, and a gun left in the grass in the swamp.
There's a guy who owns a cow who often comes and reaps the long grass. Should I tell him where the gun was thrown to try to retrieve it? Could be worth some money to the poor cow guy. Maybe not. In time it will rust I hope.
As far as a moan goes...good one Thai cops.

It sure is mate. Especially been hard for me as my mom is only 69 years old. She was in perfect health when diagnosed and would have probably lived to a ripe old age now I dread the fact that one day she will not remember who I am. My best wishes to you and to Misskit.

Thank you for the thought. My mom actually has several pictures hanging on the wall next to her comfy chair. She is constantly looking at them.

A new work colleague of mine has just devoted the last five years of his life to caring for his father who had alziemers, it nearly broke him.
Sadly society does not have enough help and proffesionals in place as the health services are overwhelmed by the sheer volume of cases. Leaving the relatives to struggle on as best they can.
My mum has complete power of attorney over her sister as she's now incapable and she was being fleeced for thousands by every Tom,dick and Harry. It's made my mother ill looking after her sister and her own health has started to deteriorate because of the stress. There are no spaces at care homes because they are all full and even if she could find one it would cost £1200 a week!

Yes there are cases. I have talked to a women online who lives in Texas she is only 42 and is slipping away. She plays video games as a form of therapy and is on twitch that is how I met her. She has a husband and two young children. It is just an awful story mate. Have you heard about the Colombian town that was almost wiped out by the disease?

Maybe you can not watch the video but it is a good read. It may lead to a cure in the future who are identified as having the gene.

My mom is still in the earlier stages she still has all her family memories of trips and holidays and I always talk to her about those things every time I see her. It is her short term memory that is shit and the fact that she no longer cleans the house or can remember to walk the dogs or eat. My mom was a neat and tidy freak growing up and you could eat off the floor it was so clean. Now she cant be bothered. She lives in the suburbs of Seattle and my step father and brother mostly are in charge of her care. Thankfully there is a home and money in place to make sure she will have all the care she needs.

My mother is 86 and has advanced dementia. But it doesn't hurt me because we never got on well at all. I'm too much like my dad.

My Thai wife is 41 and so absent-minded and lacking in mindfulness that I worry about what she will be like when she's older.
