a 12 year old girl fell off her bike, going to the farm, yesterday. She was run over by a tractor, killed instantly.

I got bitten on the left shin by something last night.

Turns out the rash on my leg is not an insect bite but cellulitis. It got worse during the day so I got it checked out at the new hospital in Sakon nakon. They admitted me straight away, antibiotics for 3-5 days and possibly surgery as well.

Firstly a big thank-you for wishing me well with this infection. We caught it early, but it is still going to be a painful few days after surgery last night.
Apparently the doctor has seen 10 cases in the last week. A Danish guy is being treated here as well, left it later before coming to hospital and is in icu with nasty infection.

Careful in the wet season, make sure you don't walk around with any exposed cuts. One careless day is all it takes, especially if you have a weakened immune system.

what is the antibiotic they are treating you with?

^ No idea. More than one type. Both by iv. One needs diluting with saline drop for me. I found it too painful at the entry point on its own.
Was hoping not to need surgery but it was worth it.

probably doxy 100 which is a ttetracycline and stops protein synthesis
