My moan is doing 8 hours driving yesterday to travel a distance that would take 4 in the UK, still at least the BIB didn't catch me going over 75 mph.

Not when she saw the state of the used underwear in the washing basket.

For some time on the way to school I have been educating the daughter on proper music played in the car on Spotify. To encourage her, sometimes I offer 50 Baht if she can name a song and artist and I've long been marvelling at her knowledge of 70s and 80s music.

This morning it was disco and as 'Yes Sir, I can Boogie' was playing, she claimed 50 Baht for the song name and the group Baccara. Then I heard sniggering from the back seat from her and her classmate.

It turns out she's logged in to my Spotify account on her phone and she can see exactly what's playing each time because they seem to be linked somehow, the bugger. She's taken me for 100s of Baht.

My second moan is that when I got home today I had a boiled egg for breakfast and while I was eating it the wife started frying chilli powder. I went into a sneezing fit with a mouthful of egg and toast and half choked, and ended up blowing chunks of toast out of my nose. It still hurts half an hour later.

    Moan.

Met at land office at 9am. The Thais on both sides are still nattering on about their favourite colour or some shite.

    Cheer.

From beginning to end it will be concluded before lunch. Try doing that back home.

I thought the whole point of Spotify is to listen to unfamiliar music and telling you what it is?

    Where does this come from?

I may well have blown my nose on underwear before but I'm pretty sure I have never posted about it?

VC, I rarely listen to new music as I find that invariably I don't like it. In fact I had an email from Spotify recently telling me about my listening habits and it included what must be my favourite song. This must have crept in amongst the 80s compilations.

I guess at my stage in life I like my music like I like my women... I want things to be easy and familiar with no untoward surprises.

I had two boiled eggs and toast without any drama this morning. Luckily I'd finished that before reading your post or the laugh it gave me could have involved the egg-up-nose syndrome here too.

Tourists coming to Thailand and moaning that it is not the same as their own country. Priceless. Not sure if that's a moan or just funny as fuck.

Found myself in the pool yesterday surrounded by several people all speaking what I assumed to be Russian. Earlier in the day was in a songtaew and observed a German and Russian dude attempting to communicate in broken English. Hell if I know what they were moaning about …

I think so to Pickel. Easy to push the button and Bam there is the song title and artist. Works well with Thai songs as well. I use it from time to time when I hear a Thai song I like on the radio.

Got to hand it you your daughter Mendy. She seems to be out smarting you on a regular basis nowadays. My daughters started that about 8 or 9. Then the older one taught the younger one.

My moan today is trying to convince my wife she over waters plants. She absolutely refutes it then follows with " This is Thailand and they grow differently here" response. I just say...."Roger that El Capitan" and walk away and watch the plants she cares for.....die. The follow on moan is hearing excuses later why it died....Like "Too much sun" "not enough sun" "pot to small". I sent her a top 10 list on symptoms of plants that are being over watered. Never read it. The only plant I know she cannot over water is a GD Lotus flower plant......

^ my Mrs is less so now but its been a long learning process for her. It takes time for Thais to realise they don't have all the answers, I still i get stuff wrong here too. Maintaining a mai pen rai attitude when we disagree works here, time yields the correct result.

^^ My 'gardener' constantly overwaters plants. But I think sometimes he just thinks he should be doing something. Can't fault his work ethic, just the way he applies it.

He also always overfeeds the catfish in the tank. I tell him that if any pellets are left over after the initial feed, then it was too many. They just rot. He will never accept this.

I have accepted this and have learnt to pick my battles.

Apparently more than 4,700 people visited Doi Intanon last Saturday.

It was time for the scooter.

    Doi Intanon?

A shoe shop? Give us easterners a clue.

Anyway, another moan and a plea for help.

There is this silly LINE group for the Primary 6 'Parents Group' at my daughter's school. Of course almost everything is in Thai so I just ignore it, although I know I should forward it on to Edmond for translating. Today I noticed that all the parents seemed to be sending the boss woman 170 Baht for something or other and posting their bank payment slips.

Not wanting to be the tightwad parent I inquired and discovered that we owed 170 Baht for the Christmas party. No problem, but the boss parent sent a QR code for the payment. How on earth do I scan a QR code from my phone, which is showing the QR code? How do you scan your own phone?

I did a screen grab, uploaded to Google photos, downloaded it on my laptop and the scanned it from my laptop screen using the banking app on my phone. Am I missing something here?

    Many moans today.
