Thankyou , I do my best but it’s not easy uploading here sometimes now![]()
Great stuff Nigel
I was sent a postcard of Flatford Mill, is it inhabited or a museum for Constable lovers? I read somewhere he lived across the Stour at one point.
Yes, it can be pain.
With the website doomed, TD doesn't have any admin and the database can't be updated, and hasn't been updated in many a year, a few of TD's finest have created an extra forum here:
Just a moment...
Pretty much the same as TD, but obsessive, humourless, anger and hate is taken care of when it pops up. :-)
That you can get from this thread to inter-fora bitchin' so speedily says it all...

Thankyou ,, yes David it is lived in and there are some other buildings there with a very small museum area plus some places where people can have accomadation and partake in painting courses in such a famous area , I live about 30 mins drive away on the coast in Frinton and as a trust member I spend many happy hours down there painting
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs![]()
Splendid Nigel you have inspired me to leave my clarinet and have a go at drawing and water colors again.
I’ve been out painting by the Stour in Flatford this week in this beautiful autumnal weather we are having , more on that later ,, in the meantime enjoy a bit of autumn gold oil on cavas 10” by 8” , apple from our garden , plums scrumped from next door
Oh btw my latest 6 month cancer test results are I’m still showing undetectable ,, that’s a year now since treatment , I’m so happy
So far so good Wills thanks ,, unfortunately after any cancer diagnosis your allways kinda on watch .
But going forwards I love and appreciate each and every day I have left with my dear little wife
Out for a charcoal sketch this afternoon down quay lane in Kirby le Soken as I’m working on an oil painting that’s taking a lot of drying time .
Bit of an aside , I was recommended to a lady to look at her problem of her large glass internal porch door that drove her nuts because it was so plain and bland ( from an artistic eye ) so I ordered her some stick on fake stain glass panels of yellow flowers with their green leaves from China and arranged on her door in a measured out pattern ,, as I finished them the sun came out and shone right through them beaming these colours up on her wall in the lounge ,, I have never seen anyone so happy with such a simple thing and at 90 she was crying with joy over the results bless her.
Making the most of this lovely Autumnal weather we are having right now 21 degrees , blue sky just gorgeous and where better to be than out beside my delightful river Stour in Constable country in Flatford
Oil on a canvas panel I made myself 14” by 11” , my go to size now for plein air work .
Were off to Malaga Spain early November so I hope to be capturing some of the wonderful landscape in and around the Ronda regions .
Looks like your painting in the shade, won’t that interfere with how you see the colors in the canvas?
Fair enough, and bloody good result looking at that.
Thankyou very much ^
Great stuff Nigel thanks for sharing.
With Nigel's permission I'd quite like to post up some pictures during the daughter's journey through Art and Design GCSE.
Art and Design certainly isn't an easy option and she probably gets more homework for this subject than all the others combined.
It ain't easy on her Dad's wallet either.
This was her first attempt using oil paints.
