I not sure if anybody is aware of this if you own a pub or whatever or your friends do see if they know

nationmultimedia.com Thai Copyright Collection, sole authorised Thai broadcaster of the World Cup, will waive the broadcasting fee for enterprises located in areas severely impacted by the recent Bangkok political unrest. However, the company will collect fees from other enterprises such as hotels, pubs, discotheques, restaurants and karaoke bars at a rate of 10,000 baht for each TV monitor.

I've never understood this rule. I thought that it was in the fifa rules that the world cup was supposed to be free to air for everybody and that no one could buy the rights for it?

We're in the 'severely impacted' area anyway.

I apologize, TCC is a subsidiary of RS Plc.

May 15--Thai Copyright Collection Co (TCC) Co, a subsidiary of Thailand's second-largest entertainment group, RS Promotion Plc, has insisted that the existing music copyright fee rates are fair and has no plans of changing them.

The issue of fee collection has been raised after a group of karaoke operators, led by the Karaoke Jukebox and Computer Federation, staged a protest against RS' collection on Monday at the Commerce Ministry.

They asked TCC to reduce fees on song copyrights and accused RS of raiding karaoke bars without warrants, using off-duty police officers hired by TCC.
Surachai Chetchotisak, chief executive and managing director of RS …

Looks like the WC rights were sold to quite a bunch of cowboys.

Bars like the Robin Hood with half a dozen screens will not be happy, Roadhouse and the Irish Exchange will be happy though. I'd like to see what happens if any raids are carried out in the middle of big matches

The 10k for each monitor will cover the whole month long WC, or only each game?

Isn't that bad a hit really if it's only one payment.

Probably not that good a deal if you've only one or two though.

Yeah, that sounds like fun. The atmosphere of you, your sofa, and GF screaming to watch the Thai soaps.

Think I'll go out to watch it like a normal human being.

I've got it in High Definition on True so can't see myself going down the pub that often. True claim they are broadcasting all 64 games live in HD for the World Cup.
