I am not sure what would be the benefits of being a resident here ? avoid Visa run ? pay taxes locally ? I am quite happy with my VISA run, as it's always a pleasure to leave Bangkok for a few days.

There're several benefits such as you can mortgage a condo without having to transfer money from aborad. Comparitvely securing work permit's easier and you can also get yourself a job in other industries (atleast chances are high to be hired). You don't have to go to the immigration every year like its the case with non immigrant visas. There're more.

I used a company called VISWICS. They have an office on Sathorn Soi 1 (Panpit Court) and in Pattaya, near the Alcazar. That Pattaya location is on the corner of 2nd road and the soi that goes to the Pattaya Memorial.

The guy who runs is (but doesn't actually do the leg work) is a retired Immigration officer from Bangkok. Great guy and he really knows his shit.

Honestly, I thought all of these guys just stamped (or didn't) passports blindly. But this guy had gone through my passport, with 2 sets of additional pages, and found my in-and-out history for the previous three years in about 3 minutes. He'd found all of the stamps. Even for me, it wasn't easy to do that.

If they aren't sure that can get you the PR, they won't take your business. For grey areas, they can help, where legal. But they do everything by the book.

They will help you organize your paperwork, get translations, stamps, health certificates, etc. They'll go with you when you've gotta visit the Immigration office and then they'll be the ones who take your application to the review board when the time comes.

What the service isn't is some farang guy telling you that he has a friend who has a friend who has access to the Immigration computers. Nothing dodgy with these guys, very professional.

Like I said, it's not cheap, but if your paperwork is in order and you meet the criteria, then they are a HUGE help.

PM me if you want a contact number.

Correct. Never under estimate an immigration officer.
There is a thai woman in the CM office who is very sharp.
She picked out a mistake on an A4 typed sheet in 30 secs. It was typed in English and the paper was in front of me, so she was reading it upside down.

When I went for my extension in Phuket, all the front desk seats were occupied by men. When they finished completing their Thai documents and checked my documents and passport.... they handed everything to lady who sits at the back. She's the one who initials the documents and gives the final approval.
