    Thai Business set up. DBA 2000 baht per year.

    I read that for a Thai, they can legally set up a small business and list it as a DBA with their local tax office, and pay a set 2000b tax p/a.

    The money made is then legit and can be used for whatever bank/finance stuff, as opposed to being just cash coming in and out without official documentation.

    Anyone know about it?

    What's a DBA, easy to set up a small Thai business, sell noodles, somtam etc. Think about 200 Baht a year. Have a milkshake, somtam and crap hut dog stand in the front of the house, don't pay any taxes or license. Jim

    ^ Not actually the business side of things.

    The setting up of making it taxable side of things.

    DBA = Doing Buisness As.

    I read that a Thai can set one up at their local tax office or district office, ie. document the buisness and income, set up a bank account in the business name, and annual tax is set as 2000b p/a. All income is legit and in the system.

    I'm talking about pretty much the opposite of what you're talking about Jim.

    Obviously the small business needs to exist and can be shown/proven via photos, accounts etc or if they want to come and see it.

    Anyone experience or know about it?

    The reason is that a Thai cousin set up her small business about 4 years ago. She's doing well enough out of it, around 30-40k p/m.

    I recalled this and told her to try and do it and her income will be legit and documented, but need some back up and facts before she'll probably do anything about it.

    Not sure where you are coming from, but you may be talking VAT tax, Thais hate paying tax, any kind.
    Once a business earns X Bath it's supported to file income statements, every 3 months I think. Can't remember how much turn over [not the somtam] then you can make it a true business and pay your taxes, business bank account.
    Don't understand taxes in the west ,have a business here and an accountant, seen him 3 times in 6 years, pay my tax and keep out of the way
    6,000 Baht retainer and costs, cheap in a way. Jim
