Yeah ...that's a local Somchai up top..flip flops and no goggles for welding..had the guy who finally finished the house "adjust" some of Somchai's angles..lol and add some more steel'
The guy who tiled the roof was a local rubber cutter... charged me 130k including soffits gables and bird screens ( I purchased all materials). I got some local kids to repaint the steel after construction 5k.? Good job too no leaks ........he said..
The steel frame was built by a worker of one of my runaway builders so don't know what it would cost..guess another 100k? ( runaway bought steel also)

Living area under roof is only 11m x 5m, roof over hang is 2m all round..don't know pitch so the math is back to you mate..5555 Finishing builder forgot to give my plans back otherwise you could have had 'em.

I think scary is relative when you get old:
It takes me back to a night many years ago when I was younger and had to defend my then family on my own against some bastard Romainian gypsies in a very remote villa we was staying in , in Spain . We thought we had found a piece of heaven till that happened. Anyway you sound like a man of the world good on ya !

Whereabouts ( roughly ) are you mate ?
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

From what I have seen of that area which is also very little you are in a wonderful spot , I guess the land prices are to match

no worries....We are about 40 mins from Pak Meng beach and 2 hours including ferries from Ko Lanta .
...Not sure about a rai or two for residence only but farm land has certainly gone up...bought our ( hers) SBK land (about 85 rai) 2.8mil 2005..one part with mature rubber (25 rai) the rest planted with 2/3 yo trees. It was all very neglected..now tapping all.

and just for fun a great chick magnet too...lol

BB, not much I can add here - tsicar pretty well summed it up.

Why do you need to be involved at all? If you feel the need to build the wife a house etc why don't you give them what you feel is appropriate and let them do it their way which they will anyway.

It seems you have been here long enough to know how the Thai mind works ( sorry I couldn't think of any other words ) and with you directing things from the side will only shorten your life expectancy.

I would give them the money and let them f...k it up their way. At least your concience is clear and there's no comeback to you. Just make it clear there is no more money so they have to do it with what they've got.

You never hire friends or family for anything if they are important to you.

    Good luck.

^ thanks, mate; you're not too far off my plan - I'd like to have a proper design and plan drawn up, along with costings, that me the missus and her dad agree with. Thereafter, they can go to town and fuk it all up... I will see if the archetect or some semi professional (or possibly even me if I must) could be around for the roof and the electrics...

Plan has been put back by about another 6 months though...
    Cycling should be banned!!!
