You got some good ideas there Mrs Q, not sure about the dungeon but built in furniture has some major pitfalls considering how much it costs.

Water features goes into the gardening section, also I must admit I can't build them as I have great difficulty invisoning something like how to build a waterfall to make it look natural.

Interesting. Did you ever recommend BT's "RedCare" system?

How about one on reliable builders of swimming pools:

I want to remind a Dutch Gentleman, residing in Thailand, who has constructed a 6 x 12 meter swimming pool on our land, of his obligations.

The swimming pool was constructed in 2000 but nobody has been able to use the pool because it leaked water at a rate of some 7000 liters/day.

The gentleman in question knows full well that he has made mistakes, - has even admitted to persons we both know very well -, that he feels "uneasy" about the situation, but still as not contacted me personally to inform me when he will repair the pool.

From my side I really do not want to involve my lawyer or any other official body yet and will give him time to reflect on his mistakes and correct them.

I am absolutely sure that he himself, or at least a number of his expat acquaintances, will read this note and, if needed, remind him of his obligations.

Mr. P., I shall to stay "cool outside the swimming pool" for another 14 days. If you then still not have contacted me to discuss an amicable solution for this 6 year old problem, I shall not hesitate any longer to involve official institutions who have the legal power to let you change your mind rather quickly.

People who wonder why I have waited so long to solve this problem should know that, at present, I do not live on the property but that my wife and I are moving to the land in about 1 year and furthermore that the man I am reminding his obligations of, is basically a rather chaotic thinking individual but certainly not an unpleasant person.

I hope that a friendly reminder is enough to change the former Chiang Mai guesthouse owner and swimming pool constructor's attitude. According to my "grapevine listening devices" -, does he make himself nowadays useful by importing pvc windows and doors from mainland China.

The pool takes over 108,000 liters, without turning on the pump from the resevoir, that leaves over 100,000 liters in the pool, So why cant they use it?

How much water would be lost over a 72 square meter area due to evaporation? if it is windy the surface area of the pool could be doubled or trebled, if you put a 10 cm deep tray outside in the sun for 24 hours how many cms of water would you have left? OK we agree he has a leak but it aint nowhere near as bad as he says, pools are foking expensive toys....

Yes, I know. It was my company that makes all that stuff. The GSM STU was a right pain the backside to get right!

New user here, hi to all, will post on noob thread in a minute.

Couple of pages back on this thread caught my attention (been lurking here a little while)

Security, feel my house is reasonably good in that respect. Sure will take five minutes and a lot of noise to get in, but everything is possible.

Came home recently, and my Mrs. does this on a fairly regular basis, to find the house secured by one only , shitty Thai door, you know the plywood frame type. There is a decent steel/ironwork door in the same frame and just as easy to lock either. The first a cripple could kick in in seconds, the steel maybe two or three minutes with a jack/jemmy blah. Same to lock either (padlock) OK not too secure either.

So my question, do you guys have the same type of problem ? My feeling is I don't need to upgrade my security just my Mrs.

Best bet is to get a locksmith round and show her how 2 little pieces of metal can open any lock, then they start thinking
