Basic concrete and tile kitchen counter. 2.5 m long X 60 cm deep X 87 cm high. One shelf, plain white tiles. I will buy the doors. What would be a reasonable price?
Thanks.

You don't specify. Labour and materials incl. Labour and materials separate. Daily rate or job rate.
A difficult question as it stands.
sorry, Dirtydog out in heaven, no more available for those quotes...
8 cheap to 20 k well paid, anything in between, as a guess, few bags cement, sand, gravel, steel, tiles, labour with tools
Spoke with him last night. 12k-15k baht. 2 or 3 days to complete.Originally Posted by forreachingme
I would. 2.5m w x 60cm deep × 80cm high. Concrete block frame. Tile top, 2 sides and front between doors. No tile interior but rendered finish over block. Assumes counter against existing wall.Originally Posted by expat2010
Surely the top would be constructed of reinforced concrete prior to tiling. That then would need to be left to season before the forming can be removed. Causing a delay in the build.
That's how mine were built. Sorry no photo's, me camera's gone a bollix.
PS. My toilet/shower room cupboards were built in the same way. Each builder has their own methods.
Should be. Yes would need to cure before tiling. More detail needed. Number of doors wanted would be good to know.Originally Posted by Pragmatic
Thanks. Two doors. I have a quote of 10,000 not including the doors (4,000/meter), but including one metal shelf (didn't really understand exactly kind of metal/construction) - he said it comes in 1 cm or 2 cm, and tiling the bottom shelf which will be level with the bottom of the door, and 1 side (other side is flush against a wall), as is the back. 3 days to do it. I don't know his ideas on the top - maybe do it offsite and let it cure a couple of days before starting here.
The guy had a a couple of very good ideas and was recommended by large supplier - people in Sattahip will know who he is - Khun Saek/Max. I thought the price was a bit high which is why I asked here, but it sounds like it was not. Nevertheless, I'll offer him 9,000 and see how it goes.
He may have precast in mind. Available in several thickness and sizes.Originally Posted by expat2010
I'm not familiar with metal frame construction but 10k baht sounds a fair price. 9k even better.
Ask if he has any photos of stuff he has done.
Forget about common floor tiles for the counter top.
Get either wood.
I think even Ikea stock them. See these:
Kitchen Countertops - Laminate & Wooden countertops - IKEA
Or do big slate tiles.
Granite would be best. They usually charge about 2,000 baht per meter.
