I've done that already, but the virus came back within 2 days... It's also damn tricky because it stops the screen from coming up (I think it attacks the graphics card or something???).

More importantly, think of the hours you could spend arguing with Butterfly about it!

This is what I use. Ubuntu was installed a almost two years ago, and it has been virus free since. No I dont like the open office as much as microsoft, so I do my office work in my office on a windows equipped PC.

But I must say I just bought my daughters Mac airs, and they are the coolest machine I have ever seen. My next computer will be an apple.

I have to use Windows for work. No fan of Bill Gates, but Windows 7 is the best Windows I've used. Rock-solid, my computer is on 24/7 and I can't remember the last time I've had to reboot.

Here is what I have on my Windows 7 PC

Bit Defender Anti Virus Pro
Speed up My PC- on startup
Crap Cleaner- every day after finished browsing
Malware Bytes- always on
Spybot S&D- once a week
Smart Defrag- once a week
Driver Genius pro- once a month

When will windows 7 change though; they'll stop supporting it, and it'll just become a virus magnet...

Yip M word excel powerpoint. No problem. The photo and vid programs are very easy to use and seamless. If you wish you can split your hard drive and run windows as well as the Mac system. Apparently windows runs quicker on the Mac than a PC. When I first changed did that, but bothered less and less with the PC side. Now use MAC only.

Not an expert just a user. For me it runs great. Have no problems and have not used a techi in years.

I use Yahoo page on Safai and google on Firefox again no problems.

I'm using VMware Fusion to run Windows 7 on a Virtual Machine (whatever that is), there's no need to reboot the mac to run it, it just opens up in a window like any other application.

I've started using it in the last month as I've got a couple of programs that aren't available on mac.

^ aliNa??? So, you run W7 via a server to reduce the virus risk? Is it slow?

I'm running WinXP on 2 computers, Win7 and Ubuntu on 2 others and I don't get any of those "Microsoft released viruses" on them.

No it is not stupid,
I allow them and I consider myself having good knowledge about computers but consider Microsoft having better knowledge than me about bugs and security holes that has to be fixed.

I worked with Microsoft many years back (broadcasting middleware), there engineers and products were shite, nobody in the industry wanted to touch them; their products failed. They seem to have done well for themselves in computers though...
