Hello computer experts.

I'm so fukin sick and tired of losing days of working time due to viruses and crashes. I'm also sick and tired of having Microsoft implant themselves into my computer/programs/life without being asked; they are one fukin intrusive company.

So, my computer is now so riddled with various viruses and problems that I'm gonna throw it away (it's a Dell laptop - it is dead...).

My question is: I use word, acrobat reader/writer and powerpoint all the time; can I have a computer setup that enables me to continue my work, but avoids Microsoft operating systems and programs. I also use yahoo and hotmail; what would you suggest as email that is not linked with Microsoft? How about web browser?

Is this a good idea? Doable?
