    Bangkok Post's Database Discontinued

Yesterday when I got on the TG flight from Ho Chi Minh to Bangkok, after a 10 day trip, I immediately went for the Bangkok Post, knowing that the Database would be in it's Wednesday issue. But it wasn't there.
"Ahhh, someone lifted in on the flight over, like I might have done, to read it thoroughly later on." I checked a second issue and found that it was missing Database, too.
Only when I started reading the letters to the editor did I find out that it's been discontinued completely!
Does anyone know what happened? This has got to be their most popular section. It's definitely very informational in many ways.
A few years ago, they stopped the Thai language learning section in the Tuesday issues. And I can't say that I've bought a Tuesday issue since.
Since then, I've only ever bought the Wednesday issues and the occasional Sunday issue. But now, I think I'm going to be a strictly Nation-type guy, as I actually like their 'news' reporting better than the Bangkok Post.
As I sat on the plane coming back, kind of pissed off, actually, I wondered what had happened to all of the talent from the Database staff. Then I thought, "How great would that be if the Nation picked up the whole Database staff to do their weak Tuesday tech section?" I'm sure that their Tuesday sales would go up immediately.
Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money.

it became irrelevant, their news were old, and hardly cutting edge, actually quite boring

actually I stopped reading it 10 years ago, question of time before it would stop

They've replaced it with scattered articles in the Life section, with a direct link through the "tech" tab.

It was getting rather full of stale opinion pieces from poor writers.

I have to admit, the first few pages weren't much to read, I normally passed right by them. But I did enjoy the last few pages (though, can't say I read Wanda Sloan since I bought my Mac). James Hein was a good read for the industry trends. And the last page was usually good for a laugh and TIT info.
