    Flashplayer

    Hello everyone.

On some of the web sites I have visited they have video footage which appears interesting to watch .
The problem is that when I try to access it a message appears that says I do not have the correct flash player and recommends that I down load one .

I have tried to do this without any success .
Is this due to the fact that I am up country using a mobile satellite ariel to access the inernet .?

Do I need to have a broadband connection to download a flash player ?

    Thanks in advance .

Downloading something can be done with any type of connection. It may take longer or be more prone to transfer errors with a satellite connection compared to a fixed line DSL connection, but it should be fully possible. You need to explain in what way it does not work.

In general, don't surf porn unless you have proper ad blockers, anti spyware and antivirus programs installed.

    Adobe - Adobe Flash Player

Unclick the McAfee download box first, unless you want it.

    Hi ,
Actually I am learning to cook a few Thai dishes some of which are shown on video .
It still gives the recipe but it would be good to see the chefs actually cooking them .

The flash player APPEARS to load correctly ( it is downloading for about 30 mns ) and if you go into Control Panel and then the Add or Remove section the Adobe Flashplayer icon is actually there but without a size next to it .

    Any ideas ?

Plan B: If you installed it as I suggested above, Uninstall from Control Panel and use a different browser; go to the site, and try and install the browser add-on instead.

It shouldn't take 30 minutes unless you have really crap internet, in which case the flash may take ages to load anyway.

You could also use this method:

    1. Download VLC Media player. ( http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html )
    2. Copy the URL of the recipe website containing the flash video file.
    3. Go to Download Youtube Videos in HD! Download Youtube, Megavideo, Dailymotion, Facebook, Myspace, Vimeo, Metacafe, Spike, Break, Current Videos & more! and paste the URL into the text field entitled "URL :". Click the 'Download!' button.
Wait for the page to update.
Scroll down the page and you should see a preview of the flash video.
Underneath there will be a film reel icon, under which you will see the text 'Download flash video'. Click on the film reel icon and you should see a popup window and be able to save the flash video to your hard disk.

Once saved, open the flash video with VLC media player. You now have the video on your hard drive and can watch it without using your Internet.

Or just download Youtube Downloader from cnet. This simple program lets you download flash content and has a handy little converter in it which lets you change your vids to most file types.(AVI,IPOD,PSP etc).

Try a Firefox addon called "Image and Flash Blocker".

Thanks Harry. I'm using safari but I worked out how to do it with adblocker.
