    TOT switching to ADSL2+

If you find yourself cut-off for no apparent reason, make sure your modem is ADSL2+ compatible, apparently TOT is quietly switching to ADSL2+ without telling their customers. Calling TOT monkeys to solve the problem doesn't help as they are not aware of such a switch and will instead try to confuse you with their usual non-sense.

Took me 3 days and hundreds of phone calls with the monkeys to realize that they had switched without telling their customers. The modem would report 9MB instead of the usual 2MB, and ADSL1 limit is 8MB if I am not mistaken.

So if your modem is not ADSL2+ compatible do they give you the option of staying on GDMT ?

^ nope, that's what happened to me basically

they tried to sneak into my office with the pretense of blaming the modem for not operating correctly, while in fact it was a change of "protocol". They shutdown about 200 people in the area with that switch. I guess sending letters to warn users is too expensive.

it's the same cost anyhow, but still 3 days without Internet in the office can be quite paineful

    nope, it's not apparently

same in France, they did a switch and everyone had to change their modem, but at least we were warned 6 months in advance

the switch happened 5 years ago though, and the average speed is about 30MB there for only 800 THB a month
