Wireless UBC box not available.Originally Posted by jbob
There are wireless A/V transmitter receivers available in Thailand. Could use them but all TVs would be watching the same channel.
If you want each TV to have separate channel control, 3 UBC decoder boxes are needed with separate feeds from satellite dish.
Don't always believe what you are told at a particular True UBC office.Originally Posted by nidhogg
If you want to add another TV they will cancel your existing account and start a new one for 2 TVs. More complicated than it needs to be but easily done.
I believe the cost of the 2nd TV decoder box is about 400 baht per month. So if you have gold package on both then about 2,000 baht total per month.
You will need a coaxial splitter that takes single input from your dish and 2 coaxial outputs to your TVs.

Quite often the installer will have a couple of "spare" decoders in the van. He makes a little on the sale and you dont have to pay UBC monthly for it. Enterprise![]()
Find a good electrician. I built my new house and completed it about a year ago. My electrician put in some kind of splitter box when we built the house. I don't think it cost much, but it was buried in with other electrical construction costs so I can't tell you exactly how much it cost - it wasn't significant, however. I have one cable TV account, and pay the normal monthly fee. I run eight TV's through the splitter box. Good reception on all of them, all can be used at the same time on different channels. No problem. It can be done without the involvement of the cable company, just find an electrician who knows what he is doing and he can get the splitter box at any electrical supply store. Should work the same if you are going off of a satellite dish, I would think.
This works fine for normal TV with antennae where TV input is via VHF/UHF coaxial input and channel is selected on TV.Originally Posted by Davis Knowlton
True UBC channel selection done via decoder box so your approach won't work. Unfortunately.![]()
^Oh well. Sorry. Thought it was worth throwing out there.
It was. Good thinking if one is using an antennae.Originally Posted by Davis Knowlton
A one to 4 splitter is as you say cheap. About 300 baht.
Eight TVs! You running some sort of guest house?
Four kids, five bedrooms, maid's room, living room, gym. They just kind of kept multiplying........Don't even ask about DVD players, IPODS, cell phones and computers. And I grew up in a house with four kids and one 12" TV - and we were the last people in the world to even get that.
I see. The price to pay for preserving domestic tranquility.
Exactly. And it does feel like a guest house much of the time.
was black and white^
Yep. Black and white - rabbit ear antenna.
Super clip. Will show to my kids later. They'll get a kick out of it.
To watch UBC on another TV, you'll need to run a remote RG box allowing to change channels on the 2nd TV but as stated before the same channel will be shown on both TVs.
There is a way around it but it's not 100% legit so I won't mention it here.![]()
