Has TOT finally took their thumbs out of their asses?

Don't know about you but for the past few days, mt TOT connection (3MB) is running like shit off a stick...it is downloading at about 302KB/s continuously...this is a first!

I probably need to go to the temple and suck a bit of Boen, bless TOT etc...something has definately changed.. I downloaded 13 Sony Acid Loop CDs last night in 10 hours... 6GB, and today I have downloaded over 8 movies...I think I need to downgrade, I am able to download more than I have time to watch...loosing value here!

It seems there is a much faster connection with sites outside of Thailand...i.e. the US dot coms.

Well I lost my TOT connection totally today and had to call their 1100 and get re-connected with some new user names and passwords.

This happens every now and then but yes I have noticed that the connection speed has definately improved.

We got fobbed off a bit about certain things, (1100 number) like lines down bad connections, but it does seem like they have tried to get their act together. It has been like a steam train the past few days.

I pay for a 3MB down and a 512 KB up...the downloads have been unbelievable, I cannot watch everything, I am getting 6-8 movies a day, before it was taking 3 days for one!

I am off to watch "Bad Santa" sounds like fun....

Missi are you on Premier (the expensive one?). In my first condo here I had Indy 5mb for 500 B per month, was shit, slow unreliable browsing and never DL more than 80 kb\s.

Moved to a house n quiet moo baan and got the Premier for about 1500 per month, 3mb connection. Best internet I've ever had, shits all over the top of the line I had in Australia. Consistently DL at 300 kbs and internet always fast.

I did get dsconnected one day, turns out they inadertantly cancelled the account. Techs were at the house early the next morning and they upped me to 4mb free of charge. Now I've seen DL as high as 380 kB per sec. Last month I probably DLed more than 100 gig, no worries.

read a lot of complaints about CHiang Mai nternet but maybe you just get what you pay for.

I used to get 2.8MB with a TOT 3MB connection but for the last 2 months it has only managed to struggle a max of 1.2 MB.

Just depends how many people are signed up and logged on with the same package in your area.

Premier and Indy are Triple T (formerly tt&t)broadband packages. Thats a different ISP to TOT which miggins has.

I'm on Premier 2mb and reasonably happy with it.

Looks like I'm about to go with CAT CDMA. Norts reckons it's OK, so I know who to slap if it's crap.

Maxnet is pretty good except for when the kids are in the internet cafes spending their lunch money after school.

Got D tac edge mobile. Not really fast but 100 % reliable. Have D tac tower in back garden though.

No I am not on anything special, it's a basic package of 3mb down and 512 up, but it has been a pretty mixed bag over the past few months. costs me 590 or so..call it 700 with the phone.

The other week it was down every morning, we had ADSL but no internet, but after pestering their 1100 number, they reckoned that initially the cable had been damaged, later they said it was an incorrect cable, whatever that is, but since then this thing is flying.

The big difference seems to be getting out of Thailand, I could almost get 3MB here, but for what? The Bhudda Network or the local TV? The big improvement seems to be something going on under the sea!

I don't think we have much choice up here, however I am seeing a lot of these "BB Broadband" trucks knocking around, but finding anything out about the internet providers up here...I may as well ask a cow!

I think that's what the house had before, and will be what I try if the CDMA is crap. I might even end up getting both.

Like I said earlier, asking Thais and what can and cannot be done is a bit in the ether really...do you know if it is a bit like the UK where you can have a BT connection to your home for the phone, but can use the same lines to operate a different provider?

Like British Gas...they put the pipes in...you go and seek value for money?

It seems that if you have a True line, you must have True internet.
If you have a TOT line you can have CAT, TOT, TT&T or BB.
You can have a TT&T line with only internet.

The problem with out new place is that it's a bit further from town, hence looking into CDMA. TOT, CAT & TT&T have all said that they cannot supply us with a line based internet package. We will try the CDMA and talk to BB if we ever find their office.
