    Skype problem

A few months ago the people I were speaking to could see me via my web cam, but now they can't. I can see them and conversation can be carried out. My web cam is working as I can see myself when checking it. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone help ?

Are you checking the video of yourself using your web cam software (e.g. logitech software, something similar preinstalled on your system, camfrog)?

If so, turn your webcam software off and and then retry to do Skype video in your call. My understanding is that Skype video won't work if the video is also being accessed through another program.

Just a thought. There are many other more learned chaps around here that I'm sure can help if that fails.

The video takes more bandwidth than the audio.
If your available bandwidth is low then the video will drop out.
Does it on mine if I have torrents running at the same time.

on skype - tools, options, video settings and you should see yourself in the box there if your cam is working with skype.

then when you are in a call , if you haven't chosen make a video call or answer with video , there should be a little blue button that says , turn on video.
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

Don't forget to allow the people in your contact list to view the video.

    - Start automatically the video
-Allow to the persons in my contact list.

    In the "video" option box.

Yes Mr Baldrick, that is correct.
So when I receive an invitation to answer an incoming call I have to press the blue button "turn on video". I actually thought I was doing that but you have now thrown doubt into my mind. I'll try making a video call to them, and see if that works. Thanks for all the other posters advice.
