Negative scanner

Not strictly Computer but loosely related.

Whilst having a sort out I have come accross a load of 35mm colour negatives and also some older black and white negs (not 35mm). A quick look has confirmed that some of these are of photos that I have lost.

Probably cost far to much to get them printed.

It seems the ideal solution for this would be to get a UBS negative scanner, however my first search with google seems to come up with with only 35mm scanners. Is there one that will do both 35mm and old b & w negatives?
If I can find a solution to this would probably buy the scanner. Then when this one off exercise of getting the negs onto my computer is completed would sell the scanner off at half price

Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated

After messing about with my printer and scanner, and the use of photoshop I have been able to come up with a semi decent result with the black and white negs, just needs more tweaking and cleaning of the negs.

I will do a tutorial on it later if any one is interested

So any recommendations for a 35mm colour film scanner, not slides.

How big are the old B+W negatives? Many old negatives were just used for contact prints, ie 1:1 ratio, because the emulsions were not up to the job for enlargements. To reproduce these practically any flatbed scanner which has a transparency hood will do an adequate job. If you want to enlarge them then there are lots of scanners will handle medium format negatives, ie 2 1/4" square.

but really, scanning a 35mm negative with a view to producing quality enlargements up to 20"x16" needs a dedicated 35mm scanner.

If you have a choice of 2, go for the one with the largest Dmax, this indicates the density range and is often more important than the resolution in pixels.

Speaking of pixels, ignore the interpolated figures, they are fairly meaningless.
