I've just had the young one, who is staying in BKK with friends, ring up and tell me she can get a brand new in the box Wii for 8000 B. I know bugger all about computer game consoles but she told me that this was very cheap and too good an offer to miss.

Is it?

If it's modded i.e. chipped to play pirate games and comes with two controllers with nunchucks (NTSC - US Version) then it's a great deal!

Even if it just has one controller with nunchuck it's still a good deal.

Just make sure it's a US Wii (Not Japanese) with mod chip and it's a good deal. IMO.

£135 (just over 7000bht) at the moment in the UK. If your looking for all the extra`s, i.e. Guitar hero, then it can go up to £220. You can chip your own in under ten minutes, at a cost of around £30 from ebay.

I've just been to look at one in Lotus and it's 24,950 B !!!!! I guess that comes with all the extras. I'll try and find out exactly what is in the package.

Will it play on a normal TV or will I need to buy an LCD/Plasma? I saw that Lotus were doing 2 Samsungs LCDs for 25K.

Should play on any TV, so long as you have the required connections. Those audio and tv jack thingies. Im not sure if they're all the same though.

ntsc wii or pal wii will work perfectly if used on a lcd but then prefer the YUV cable to get an acceptable quality of image(480p), if you plan to connect it to a regular TV, the american wii(ntsc) may be a problem if your tv doesn't accept this kind of signal which will result in a black and white image, Thai televisions use pal standard.
