    computer will not hook up.

I don't know shit, but some of ya do.
I don't know why but the techs came from TTT maxnet to change out our ADSL modem thing, as when they put it in the one they had brought was no good and they left the techs modem and just came to get it, they put in a LINKSYS
wireless 6 . and out of the back is 4 LAN slots, so 2 Lans are plugged in, one for my desktop and one that goes into another room and hooks up to wifes laptop or her desktop which was new a couple months ago.
Now my PC works, but at her end of the Lan either of her computers will hook up,, the tech tried his laptop and it did hook up,,, so why will hers not work,,and this thing has a short antenna on it so must actually be wireless as it says..

Hi BG, If you wouldn't mind doing some diagnostics, I can guide you trough it.
First get your good self on to your wifes "com", check the following:
Is the network cable plugged in at the right spot?
is it lit? (green or amber) If erverything looks ok, do the following:
click the startbutton --> Run In the little box that pop up you type cmd and hit enter
You should now have a black terminalwindow in front of you, and in that window you type: ipconfig /all then you hit enter.
this command vill list all your network devices and it will show you all information on all active devices. what you will be looking for, will be the IP addresses to your different devices. If the IP address (es) look something like this, 192.168.xxx.xxx or 10.xxx.xxx.xxx they are correct .
You might check this info on your own "com" as well for reference let's say your computer has an ip address of 192.168.1.10. Your wifes computer should then be in the same range i.e. 192.168.1.x (x=1 trough 255)
try this and see what you get, and then report back.

    NB!
I assumed this was a windows OS

Btw this is also concludes my first post on teakdoor.

You could try plugging her laptop into your connection. Maybe hers just doesn't like the longer connection leed?

    Hi again BG.
Like Panda says, it could be the cable, but then again, since the computer gets an ip address from the router, that would be an partial break. I would try to check the firewall/security settings on your wifes computer. If those are ok, my guess is your new router is mis-configured.
    Hope this helps.

Thanks dude, her laptop ran on that Lan for a year and then she bought the new desktop when she bough a bunch of new stuff for the school and she got the same discount for hers so she bought it and it has been running on that Lan ever since, and then they change the router/Modem thingy and now her shit wont work, but the tech laptop does,so does mine, so something in hers is different. maybe the copy copy copy XP, mine is the real jake and hers was supposed to be legal too, but it aint.

Perhaps she had a static IP address configured for the old router. The new router may have a different default gateway.

Well what ever it is the techs from TTT that came and changed the router can't figure it out, altho mine is running and the techs laptop runs but her 2 will not run off this new one, they did off the old one.
so I guess they will figure something out, now she has both her units down at the shop where she bought em, so we should know soon.
