Why would i want to do such a thing, Just because mac are using the same hardware as PC's does not mean a PC should be using OSX.
I don't see this is legal under Apple OS agreement, can't see this website advocating it lasting too long
For the fun of it, quite simply, and 'because it can be done'.
Plus, there's always the idiots who believe that Mac and PC computers can all perform the same tasks, this is for them :-)
Here's an extensive chart comparing available netbooks and what works (and what doesn't) on the various models.

The WiFi not working in most cases is easily remedied by replacing the WiFi card with a commodity Dell WiFi card (which is readily recognized by OS X).
I have both the MSI Wind U100 and the Dell mini 10v - I prefer the Wind U100, as it has a slightly larger screen, and the hardware can be hacked easier.
The other advantage is simply that for $200-$300 you get a (hacked) machine that you can use to surf on the beach, for example, without fear of financial repercussions if it gets wiped out. I've had my Wind U100 with me on several Koh Chang trips, and it's always served me well - light, solid, and a good performer.
Back in BKK, I use it as a WiFi gateway, to maintain a WiFi connection in my hotel, and to re-route it to an ethernet router, so I can run my VOIP phone off it, thanks to OS X's excellent internet sharing feature (one click, done).
Many really good reasons, but mostly "because I can".
In terms of the argument that the intel Atom CPU is a crippled and underpowered CPU, well, this would settle that argument:

80 apps running simultaneously on a netbook - not too shabby.
You can have MAC OS X running on a netbook, but you'll still have the ridiculous tiny trackpad and never the nice multi-touch huge glass Mac trackpad. Not for me.

^Yea but you can buy a samsung NC10 linux for 9000 baht. Apple hardware is kinda spensive.
There's a whole forum dedicated to this.
^ Right, if you want to run a GNU/Linux distro you can buy cheap laptops or netbooks.
I've used Linux for 10 years now, and switched to Mac one year ago (tired of some updates screwing the system or some programs).
And I'll never go back to Linux. Only testing some distros in Parallels 5 for fun.
why would I want to run an inferior OS like OSX when there are WinXP, Unbuntu and hundreds of nice distro for free
not logical, Quack Quack
I would be the last person to try to dissuade people from buying a MacBook :-)
Nevertheless, as I pointed out, there's an element of fun in being able to convert a compatible netbook into a Hackintosh, and it does provide some benefits in doing so (for starters, not having to deal with any Windows variants), and getting essentially a kit laptop (complete with iChat compatible webcam) for under $300 (or, 9,000 Baht).
It's not only fun, but it also pisses off Butterfly (because he doesn't know how it's done), so it's a win/win, the way I look at it.
Yep, that's fair.Originally Posted by DaffyDuck
