No access to Microsoft site for downloads

Any idea's? I need to download a compatibility pack pack to be able to work with the files I have received through email. Microsoft office and powerpoint. I am also having the same problem when I am trying to upgrade to the latest version of MSN Messenger. When I click on yes I get to the ''INTERNET EXPLORER CANNOT FIND THIS WEB PAGE'' MESSAGE.

Any ideas on how I can solve this as I urgently need to be able to read the files I have been sent.

Thanks in advance for any help.

This is one of them. It seems that I cannot access any microsoft sites.

    ...and this.

Some friend in Uni have sent me some work for a presentation that we are doing and I guess they are using a different version of word and powerpoint to the one that I have. I have windows XP.

I get the message saying that I have to download a compatibility pack but when I click on YES I just get the IE page that says I cannot access this site.

The same thing has happened when I try to download the newest version of MSN messenger.

    Cheers for your help.

    .
Pretty sure they have sent you the .docx and .pptx versions? Those are the vista (updates) versions.

The really simplest thing to do is ask them to resend the files in .doc and .ppt. Two clicks for them, which they probably know how to do.

If not, they need click save as, and then "save as word/powerpoint 97-2003 document", and re send to you.

easy for them (they will be able to open and work with your revised version no problems), and, frankly a pain in the arse for you to do it another way....

(and they are probably used to doing it anyway!).

If you still can't get access, I've done my good deed for the day (anything to avoid work). I've downloaded it from the Microsoft site (assuming that you want something called fileformatconverters.exe) and uploaded it to FileFormatConverters.exe

Cheers for your help both. Very much appreciated.

Dan, that converter worked a treat. Your a life saver!

Still no joy with trying to download the new version of MSN messenger. Get as far as the screen to click to download and then it goes to the ''INTERNET EXPLORER CANNOT FIND THIS WEB PAGE'' MESSAGE. screen.

Cant use the messenger at all now.

    Thanks again lads.

Or fuck Office off and use Open Office which will open anything.
