The compressed archive can be opened with WinRar, independent of if it is compressed as .rar or .zip.

If it is the .chm file you can't open, then there is a major error in your Windows installation. Windows Help should open the .chm when double-clicking it.

Yeah I know what a .sit is and how to unstuff it but my computer wont actually let me download it (read above) The link dd gave me keeps hanging.

The file marmers sent me wont work. what the hell else can I do?

You must be really daft..
.sit files are packed , and unpacks with stuffit.
Stuffit / .sit is a Mac standard.

.rar is a standard used by many operating systems but you can see it as a Windows standard if that makes it easier for you.
In order to open the .rar file, you need WinRar which is a Windows program.
It runs on your Windows PC so when Marmers emails it to you , you should not install it on the Mac but on the PC..

I suggest that Marmers unpacks the file for you and send it in an email to you, otherwise this thread will continue for weeks..

Now, I'm getting pissed off.

I already said i know what a .sit file is, I use them all the time for work, both downloading and uploading.

I can't get the stinkin file because it won't let me download it. Who cares what format its in, it's useless if I can't dfownload it.

Marmites email which he sent was a .rar file which my windows wouldn't recognise.

I shouldn't of bothered.

I can tell you that your Mac won't recognise a .sit file either - until you buy and install stuffit.

Why should your PC recognise a .rar file if you have not instaled WinRar ?

I'm trying to send him the RAR prog, but my internet is a bit iffy today. It should get there at some point.

Just double click on the file and it will install, ok?
