    keyboard problems

Bought a new acer aspire 5530G laptop last Aug and it's been ok until recently. The problem I have is with the keyboard, for one thing it will not type a question mark or an at sign for email any more. Worse when typing the currsor will somehow jump back to a previous line and start typing in the wrong place. Mrs says it's my fault for not buying a Sony.
Anyone have any idea if it's a software or hardware problem, pretty sure it has no virus or other infections, don't want to take it back for service if it's something can remedy myself.

Had a similar problem with my Acer Travelmate but it was 4 years old - took it to the Acer agent and they changed the keypad - cost 1,200 baht

Dunno about the otehr stuff, but that happens to me when I am typing if the heel of my hand touches against the touch pad - which jumps the cursor. Annoying.

    Just a temporary fix.

I have an old Acer Travelmate with keyboard problems too.
Enter key and right shift key don't work.

if you are running Microsoft, hit the Microsoft key + U and you get the Utility manager which has an onscreen keyboard you can use for the few buttons that don't work.

That's a new one on me thanks, actually had a Sony as last machine and it went wrong twice in the first three months.
