Be sure you turn off automatic Windows updates as well.

One other possibilty is to obtain a genuine serial No. from an old PC, and use the microsoft tool to change your serial No.

MS Tool is here Genuine Microsoft Software

This worked for me with a laptop that had a pirated version installed, despite a genuine serial number being on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop.

Not sure if you could find one of these in Thailand though

    edited for spelling ...

Had the same thing. Nocked it on the head as per Mobs advice. I heard that it is part of Windows update plan to phase out updating XP and to get all existing XP user over to Vista. Feels like they are watching all the time.

Vista was a mistake. Microsoft now realizes people don't all use the same PC. You have one at home, at work, a laptop etc. People want to be able to use all their files and programs and settings on all machines so microsoft is developing an interconnected system that can link all you machines together.

I don't think XP will be phased out it will just go around the same time as Vista when people start to switch to thr new mobile operatiing systems.

Probably not - but you paid Baht 200.-- to much for it.

Excellent, yet another demonstration of how much easier Windows is to ease than the Mac OS.

That's an easy one to fix. Just go to post count 1000 then you will be able to put in there what you want. Or so I am told.
