    Mac Help Please (if Poss)

2 yearsa agoI bought an Ibook G4 off Ebay here in the UK as I wanted to try out Mac , as opposed to PC, on the cheap.

It arrived in the original box and works fine. I am very pleased with it.... until I needed to install a program on it and needed the system password. Ok, I thought and emailed the seller. He, a student, had set me up as the user but could no longer remember the master password...... probably too many psycotrophic drugs and alcohol.
Anyway it wasn't too much of a bother and I relied on the PC.

I recently resurrected the Mac and it seems the date/time settings have all gone to pot and I need to reset them...... and therefor I need the password again.

Does anyone have a cheat/solution to this?

Running OS9 if that helps and very grateful for any help. Beers can be paid in the UK or arranged in BKK (in a certain bar)

    Cheers

This is from a Mac forum, usual disclaimer applies as in dont blame me if it doesnt work and fries your computer

Boot from a Mac OS 9 CD or other bootable disk
You'll be able to access the entire disk from there.
    Go to /System Folder/Preferences
Delete the Multiple Users preferences file
    Restart

I say, just google the problem and go from there. Recently I installed some fake leopard disks and felt stupid and worried whilst doing it (id backed up my shit before hand) anyway I've had no problems and am enjoying full leopard usage + benefits.

Thanks to all who have replied. Upon looking in the box there is only one CD... marked CD 1 of 2.

Rather than try that and end up with nothing and needing the 2nd disc I will Google it and see.

Should have done that to start I suppose and not wasted your valuable time.

Much appreciated the (very quick) replies though.

CD 1 is all you need - it lets you boot and access the disk. Just do not run the installer.

You may want to consider an update to OS X at one point, as long as your iBook has enough RAM .
