how do i get rid of this virus? (cpu freezing)

I have picked up a virus from my work's pc i think.

Transferred some work over on my thumb drive and got a virus detection message in AVG.
Minutes later the pc froze. This keeps happening.

Checked the virus vault in AVG and sure enough it tells me there is a worm associated with one of my files from this morning.

Fine, it's been detected but how do i get rid of it?
    it says

    :healable: no.

Surely AVG must have named the virus
There are millions of them, all requiring different methods of removal

Or get yourself another virus scanner which can identify the virus.

Check if your Windows/System32 folder contains the file core.exe. delete it if it's there.

Check the root folder of all your drives for a file named Namaaaku Dora Explorer.exe and delete it.

I thought that just deleted the info from the vault.

i didn't want to do that because then i couldn't see what was there.

    sorry.

i still want to check for this info or don't I need to any more?

If it is in the vault, then I suppose AVG has removed it, then caranteened it in its vault.
But run AVG another time to be sure. Did the freezing stop now?

Hasn't happened for an hour or so.

I haven't been home all day and my wife has re-booted quite a few times.

she reckons it has stalled within 30 minutes every re-boot.

thanks for the help as usual people.
though i have a nasty feeling bout this one.

    thank you.

I had 5 viruses sitting in the AVG vault before.

I assumed that's where they should remain, all locked up.

Am I supposed to think for myself and delete them manually?

They are of no use for you so just delete them.
Unless you want to save them as a gift for a special friend

CMn, take my advice and install Avira instead of AVG, otherwise this will keep happening. It did to me. Since I started to use a Avira I have been completely free from viruses.

Had a similar problem at work, where we were using nod32, installed Macaffee and it sorted it out fairly quickly.

I bougt one of those thumb drives for taking work to/from home, but pretty quickly realised sticking one of those things in a work/public computer is more likely to catch an infection than going bareback with every skanky hoe in pattaya. Haven't really used it since.
