    A core i5 cpu is optimal for a laptop that you will not use for any heavy computing, more powerful cpu's draws more power (battery) and are more expensive. Your friend gave you a good advice.

    Snubs, I don't need anything great. Just something decent for my basic needs that will serve me well for a while.

    I'll pay the extra 100 quid or whatever for the i5.
