    Mac Users

Are there any Mac users on Samui. Would love to have someone to bounce tech issues or software addvice etc. off of when I'm there. Perhaps the odd bit of help with Mac english issues for my girl when I'm away.

Not when you're used to Windows. Soon as you learn the Mac there's no going back.

Once you've used Mac for awhile; using Windows is like dealing with a Thai girls mind....

Nice thing about Mac too is the fact that with no experience with computers between my girl and her 9 year old daughter, did they ever have a problem we couldn't resolve over the phone. Most of the trouble when it happens is due to the language barrier of not being able to read english very well. I can't imagine them trying to deal with all the "do you really want to do this?" and the countless error messages you get with Windows.

Still a good idea to have a virus checker installed though, especially if you are not using web-based e-mail.

A viral attachment would not affect you, but if you forward it on to a PC user it could.

And the first virus specifically designed to exploit a Mac running OSX was discovered in Feb 2006 ...... First ever virus for Mac OS X discovered

...totaly agree with the virus scan even with Macs though. One day the shit will hit the fan, especially with the Intel Macs running Windows

    I hope not slunky.

I have had macs for 11 years and have yet to ever put anykind of anti virus stuff on them. Long may that continue (I bet it doesn't)

Because you have spent time and money keeping them out.

    Nope.

Because I'm not a fuckwit who opens every email sent to me or downloads every piece of crap on the internet.

I don't get it, why aren't Macs susceptible to viruses?

    Dunno?

Perhaps because there isn't enough of them in the world (about 5% I think)

Perhaps they hate Bill gates more then Steve Jobs.

Perhaps all the virus programmers are Mac users.

^They are, but nobody writes them as they target the majority of windows users.

    They are.

Most people who use Macs don't spend hours surfing porn sites, as they are usually bought as business machines, because people think they are better because they are a lot more expensive. Savvy businesses will buy 2 PCs which will perform the same for the same money.

With the added benefit of porn, of course.
