See if a reduction of screen resolution makes it any faster.
or reduction of colors to 16bit instead of 32

It's a Celeron processor so not particularly good.

"The Intel Celeron N3050 is a low-end dual-core SoC for notebooks."

"Using Windows, the CPU is adequate for simple everyday tasks such as light Internet browsing or office applications, but not for complex software or modern games."

According to this computer geekery review here. Intel Celeron N3050 Notebook Processor - NotebookCheck.net Tech

After some quick googling I know that it is not possible, the cpu is as I suspected soldered directly on the circuit board, no socket.

    These Mobile Celeron is BGA-1170

What options does that leave me?

Stick on a copy of Win 7 instead of Win 10, and get an SSD put in instead of the HHD?

Must be his first good advice ever.

But again, getting a SSD installed is the best upgrade possible in your case. Even old slow computer start running compared to before. As long as you don't store lots of videos on it or many photos even 128 GB are enough.

If you get one of those SSD drives, do you need to reinstall the OS?

Are there different ones for notebooks and PCs or are they all the same?

Use VLC, I'm betting that will make a difference.

If you only spend 10K on a laptop, really, seriously and honestly....what do ya expect?

so like I said, nothing to do with CPU, HDD, SDD, or fucking 4GB RAM
