How to Delete Downloaded Windows Updates Which Failed to Install

Go to This PC and open the partition you have your Windows installed on (it’s usually C
    Go to Windows folder
In Widows folder, find folder named Softwaredistribution and open it
Open sub-folder Download and delete everything from it (you might need an administrator permission)

Now go to Search, type update and open Windows Update Settings
Go to Advanced Options and set Notify to schedule restart under Choose how updates are installed
That’s all, your corrupted updates are now deleted and you should be able to check for good ones normally. You don’t have to follow steps 5 and 6 from the resolution above, but we included this because it’s useful to control when you install updates, because it won’t interrupt your work and updates could be installed naturally when you want, without any ‘side-effects’ from third party software.

Unless you're planning on doing anything stupid or risky, just hold the updates till the 30th.

And make sure you have at least some decent antimalware and a browser protector like Web of Trust.

    Thanks Harry for the advice.
While I was waiting, installed Office 2010, within 1 hour of installing, Windows Update started working, over 1GB of updates.
Always use Avast, the paid version. on Windows.

Kudos to HarryB and Baldrick for keeping on giving valuable advise despite the trolling of this shit fly.

Buttplug has never, ever provided a single useful piece of information - but has shown startling ignorance on computer matters several times. Its probably why he steers clear of anything specific.

I think he'd be more pissed if you ever greened him. Giving him a red would have been a complement coming from you.

Buttplug lives a miserable live, selling newspapers by day and trolling for ladyboy jizz at night.

So he takes his misery out by whinging on every thread he can find.

Really should be stuck back in the shithouse where he belongs.

My computer will not load 'Windows 7 Updates'. I can leave it for hours while it searches but never seems to find owt. I've tried many fixes from the Internet but none seem to have worked. Any ideas please?

I have had a similar problem recently. Windows 7 tells me there are updates available. I choose the ones I want to download and tell it to proceed. Windows 7 tells me it is starting to download, but it downloads nothing. I run genuine Windows and have had no problem until recently.

I had a similar issue with win 10 recently on one machine. I sorted it by extending the size of the system partition. Update downloads will fail if the system partition is too small.

Extend System Partition in Windows 10 without Data Loss and Reboot

In the link I used method 2. Freeware - AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard

I tried Brise's last idea (turn off updates, restart, turn on etc), and I now have the same problem as Pragmatic - the computer is searching for updates but failing to find anything.

My partitions are plenty big enough and have plenty of space left but your post has made me think and I wonder if I have a problem with the hard disk that is preventing the download. I'll try a disk repair to see if that helps.

I already have Service pack 1 installed.

Anyway, my computer is currently "detecting problems" to fix. Let's see what it comes up with.
