    Laptop suggestions please!

It's about that time when I need to get a new laptop.

    My budget is approx. THB30-40k.

I would like something slim and lightweight. DVD-R not necessary. Decent processor and 4G RAM minimum. Internal memory 500G+. 13 inch.

    I'm not brand-fussy.

I had my eye on the Dell XPS13, but it comes in at 45k+.

Any suggestions? I will be making the actual order online, so if you can send me some links I'll do the research.

The laptop will be used for work (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and entertainment (surfing the net, watching videos and movies, and listening to music).

I'll be downloading a fair amount of stuff too, thus the bigger the memory the better, although I will be getting a 1T EHD at the same time as this purchase.

    Cheers!

Do you require lots of battery?

    If so, it's not difficult.

    DO NOT BUY A DELL

THEY ARE SHIT. Keyboard and power intake fucked in 2 years, display shonky as fuck, and the battery's are shite -power time drops quicker than a pattaya girls draws, and after 2 years balloon up

    Hope this helps.

    look through this lot
    http://www.invadeit.co.th/category/n...-inch-monitor/

I bought a ux303ln from them last year 34k - great little machine - it came with a hybrid drive which I swapped out with a SSD - but USB 3 and a 1 TB HDD and you can hoard your porn

look at reviews on Notebook / Laptop Reviews and News - NotebookCheck.net for in depth
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

    Thank you Dillinger and Balders.

Edit: I think I'll be going with the ASUS Zenbook. Had a few and they've always suited my need. These Zenbooks are reasonably priced, with decent specs.

    Get a Dell.

I've had 2 and the missus has had 1 - excellent. When the battery goes, as they do in all laptops, just make sure you get an official Dell replacement rather than a Pantip Plaza special as that'll fuk the laptop up. The missus had hers for 5 years before she replaced it.

I've had negative experiences with an HP (cheapo).
The missus has had a decent experience with her ACER (cheapo).
& we've also had decent experience with an ASUS (cheapo).

All the laptops I got were about 15,000 baht and worked ok for 2 - 3 years.

If you're not fussy about brand then you can get many decent ones for well under 30,000 baht.

Compaq/HP and Toshiba would be the brands I'd personally avoid. Obviously wouldn't go near an iApple as they are massively overpriced and exceedingly gay.

Mid-priced ASUS stuff should be well worth a look.

I really like the Dell XPS 13 - gets rave reviews, just need to stump up the extra cash. Otherwise it'll be the ASUS ZenBook.

    I suggest 1080p , matte , non-touch

but with the normal HDD as the extra price the OEMs charge for SSD's is excessive - just buy the SSD later - easy to swap , though you may have to spend 200 baht on the correct screwdriver

also my Asus had an unused half size mini PCIe slot , and I purchased a 128 gig drive to fit into there

I wouldn't bother with a touch screen. Touch screens get filthy, fast.

I see a lot of these new 'ultrabooks' are coming with SSD 128/256G drives - that's rather puny, innit?

I like that the Asus ZenBooks have 8/12G RAM - that makes for plenty fast computing, with loads of apps open (which is usually the case on my computers).

So, to the tech-retard that I am, you suggest getting the SSD or HHD model (out the box)?

If I was gonna buy a new laptop now, i'd splurge and get a Macbook Pro, just to get off this shitty Windows 10.

You know it's gonna last and hold it's price too.

Gotta say I'm not keen on W10. Some of the models online are going with W8 (cheaper too).

If it wasn't for them being out of date the moment they are released, I would do the same why I have finally got bored of this Dell piece of shit.

I've been studying the Lenovo Ideapad 100S, very slim, very light, very cheap at $200.

Drawbacks; just 2G ram(ya don't really need more for the applications mentioned), and smallish ssd drive (64G), and just USB 2 ports.(a little bit slow)

But you can use the extra micro ssd slot or an external drive.

Advantages; Lenovo machines are quality kit, cheap price, and very portable.

Did not get the touch screen version, and I use it for work, not video games.

    Suits me.
