Sheesh. How many times did he say "amazing."

Apple puts out great products - I tried the laptop Pro - but Apple isn't for everyone.

If someone is a musician or making videos or art, Apple is clearly the way to go.

If you're a casual user (like me) Android has everything for less cost.

My luvery missus kindly bought me a tab s 10 for xmas... without any provocation by me whatsoever lalalala.... ok.. maybe subtle hints...

    Anyway... here is my take.

It's screen had the highest resolution of any tablet (at that time).
    Very thin and light.
    Hardware was excellent.
    Looks the biz in gold.

Ok.. now to the shitty points about it..

Typing on the thing is average.
Some Windows files can't be opened on it (or we haven't installed the App).
Even with all it's power, it's still laggy (not much, but it is).

I believe Android in general has better internals, with higher spec than Apple.
However, where they let themselves down - is with their software..
It's just not as efficient as Apple.

I would give it 7/10 my sexy better half gives it a 7.5/10.

If you're 3G network is decent then for real world uses, it's as fast as you need for anything.

That's now but what about as technology keeps marching forward ?

    I dunno, just asking like.
A lot of it is network constrained, and my examples are for here in Korea, so I doubt Thai networks will catch up with them for another 5-10 years (if ever).

Also, I know what you're saying, but we've been told this shite for years and years; what more bandwidth do you need for full video streaming/downloading and maybe doing some internet browsing while playing music (say Youtube vids) - all of which works just fine on my 3G. With 20mbps, whcih I'm getting on my 3G phone, you can do everything you need to or will need to in the forseeable future.

But, and this won't surprise anybody:

    1) The network carriers lie and cheat, so:

    2) The real speeds we often get are slow and shite (nothing like what we paid for or were advertised):

Here is a link to an article that did tests in the US, and the speeds are mostly utter shite: 3G vs. 4G: Real-world speed tests | Computerworld

I just speedtested my 4G and I got 38mbps upload/46mbps download. On the 3G it was about 20mbps on both - which is enough.

Phones of 3 years ago could do EVERYTHING you'll ever need, imho; the limiting factor is usually (not for me now, but certainly it is in Thailand) the network your on.
    Cycling should be banned!!!

Remember, laptop headphones are different that phone/tablet headphones.

Laptop headphones have only two connections on the plug, one for the left side sound and one for the right.

Phone/tablet headphones have three connections, two for the stereo sound and one for the microphone. That may be the problem, having said that I use my tablet headphones on my PC just fine, though it may not work the other way around.

Now that you metioned this (and Terry) I need to buy headphones.

I plan on listening to news reports and other things in restaurants / cafes.

    I need the headphones.
