The new Sony Experia Z3 compact 3G/4G problem

Ok I rather foolishly took the advice of the iPhone knockers , sold my dearly beloved iPhone 4s which worked beautifully and bought this crock of shit .

Brand new phone ( apparently all singing all dancing iPhone 6 rival ) fresh out the box , brand new nano sim PAYG entered , all setting,s for DATA enabled etc , phone is fully charged turned on in a 4G reception area ,,, and ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,NOTHING !

Other than purchasing another iPhone at this stage any idea,s help before this goes under the front wheel of my lorry ?

    Thanks in advance
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

Quite a lot of insults there, Nige. & what fault of the phone is this exactly???

If you bought a 4G phone then it'll work as long as you have the right network sim and have set the phone up correctly.

I suggest that you go to one of the shops linked to that network and let them loose on the settings for you; no doubt it'll be fixed in no time. They also have a phone help service if you call the helpline (on that or another phone); usually you need to wait for an sms message that activates the phone and changes some of the settings (comes from the service provided).

Don't use 4G, people like you shouldn't even be allowed to connect to the Internet.

They will charge you the idiots premium price.

Well idiots like me are paying the exact same price on this sim as for 3G

£10 per month 500 mins call time , 5000 texts , 1 gig of data ( which btw this phone don't recognise )

Not as easy as that Betty .

This phone is 100% sim free unlocked

The sim comes provided from the same Company that supplied the phone

The same Company that provided the sim for my iPhone that worked

The Company has NO contact phone numbers , its run by a community

The fault is the phone is not able to use 3G / 4G what I am paying for on the sim that came with it ,, I would have thought that was fairly simple to understand

Nige, with all due respect, my friend, that makes no sense.

If the SIM has 4G coverage and you bought a phone that uses the same 4G frequencies then the phone will work when set up properly. Phones do have different versions for different countries which use different frequency networks, but if you bought the phone and the SIM from the same place then they should be compatible (if the shop know what they are doing).

So, if you got an iPhone in Korea it would not work in Thailand - different version that uses different frequencies...

But, presuming that the shop knows what it is doing, take the phone and SIM back and ask them to set it up for you; some simple setting changes may need to be made which the shop should be experts at. Simples. Good luck.

If there's no 'shop', it's a community (whatever that means) then whatever way you contacted them, use the same method for asking them how to alter the phone settings. Here is a simple guide that may also work:

    What network is it.

Make sure the Sim is inserted correctly.

Type 4G coverage Vodafone/EE/O2 etc into Google to check area map.

Make sure you're in a 4G area... switch the phone off and on.

Mine didn't connect to 4G until the first time I was in a good 4G area.

SIM sounds a bit dodgy. Get a contract with Vodafone/O2 for best coverage.
You can keep the same number.

Nigel, I take it you had to get a new sim, for your new phone. Did you do a sim swap to activate your new sim?

Sum nam na for buying Jan the cheap un

Look at your current APN(in mobile networks) , it should be the same as this:
    Connection Name: giffgaff
APN - Access Point Name: giffgaff.com
    Login - Username: giffgaff
    Password: Leave blank
    MMSC: http://mmsc.mediamessaging.co.uk:8002
    MMS proxy: 82.132.254.1
    MMS port: 8080
    MCC: 234
    MNC: 10

If it doesn't, then add a new APN and fill all those details in.

Seeing as you morphed into a bit of an iTard maybe check you've got data enabled before looking into the above

Take it to the shop and let the grown ups fix it for you.

No-one uses data on PAYG unless they're on holiday and only want it for a few weeks.

Can't see the point of throwing money down the drain.

If you know you're going to have a phone for a year, get a contract for a year.

If you are getting no internet at all, then I'm pretty sure you haven't turned on (enabled) the mobile data service.
    1. From a home screen, select select Applications / Apps.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select (whoever you are with) Data Service.
    4. Select Use mobile data service.
Enabled when a check mark is present.
    Black diamonds? I shit 'em.

Well thank you all for your advice ,, today I took it into a carphone shop in a 4G area , explained my problem , they very kindly checked my phone had all the correct settings , AND I WAS CORRECT thanks , so they then tried a nano sim in for me , did all the bits + pieces ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, NOTHING .

Process of elimination , and although I drive a lorry for a living , it appears I am not as thick as some would like to make out .

Its the PHONE ,,, ,, anyway its on its way back to those nice people for an exchange for one that hopefully does work and rival if not better the iPhone 6 .

At this stage I now have an open mind about this phone ,, and am looking forward to getting one that works.

One thing looking back I did remember now when I unboxed it , which was not sealed btw , the protective strip was missing off the back of the phone , however mabe they do not have one , be interesting to see when the new one arrives
