Google Earth has recently added a high resolution area to the west of Korat. Fortunately, the area where I currently live and the area where our new house is going are both in the low resolution band, so my privacy and anonymity are preserved.
One nifty spot shown in the new high res area is the Khok Kruat nursery center which is here:
14°55'43.87"n
101°58'24.08"e
I wonder if they've managed to do the remaining half of Ayutthaya Island yet?

Strangely they cut off just where I live.
Not sure if it is because of the army base or not.
I would liked to have seen Everland from the sky.

They added here also, course its the main in-road from the Cambodian border here in the south east.
Noted a lot of mil. activity over the last two weeks. Lots of to and fro ing going on it seems.
There are at least three army camps between us and the border on Rt 317, and a couple more out in the boonies. Went looking for furniture a few weeks ago up near the border in an area that does not have a 'crossing".
Army check points about every 3 Ks and raised pill boxes along the road in between all looking at the border area. Apparently its a known infiltration route.

I noticed the resolution differs from place to place.
I could zoom in and see the tiny shack where I lived in Alaska.
But everything in Patong is very fuzzy.![]()

The new imagery west of Korat is extremely new as it shows the Khok Kruat nursery center extension and pond which is only about six months old.
According to Google Earth, I live in a vacant lot.

It looks like Google Earth has obscured the area of the Suk Soi 10 that Chuwit had razed and ultimately replaced with a park. The GE photo still shows the old shops, but that area seems to have been deliberately blurred now.
I wonder how much that costs?

Maybe the blurring is due to beer goggles?Originally Posted by Gerbil

Well the guys and gals at Google Maps have finally done it ... they've made it as easy as pie to embed a Google map into your average website or blog with the need for custom hacks etc.

Yep, doesn't work for locations in Thailand. Works for my Mom's address in the US though....

Yep, was just trying to work out if embedding a Thailand map in Travellers Tales was possible ... should have read their bloody news announcement better.
You should be able to just attach the a file and anyone that opens it that has goggle earth it will open up to that place. Works for me when I e mail places to friends

^We're talking different things here Rigger. You're talking about Google Earth "placemark" files. We're talking about actually embedding a Google Maps image in a web site.

Just downloaded the latest version for my new system, and bugger me dead the guys at Google have added a new option that enables one to toggle between viewing the Earth and the Sky. For all you budding star gazers out there ... check it out.
