Vertical line on my Laptop Screen

Today a vertical yellow line appeared on my Acer Aspire 5536 laptop screen. Its about a millmeter wide and is OK on a white screen but a bit annoying on a dark coloured screen.
I had a google but haven't come up with any real cures apart from getting a new screen.I've tried using the HDMI lead on my TV and the Picture is fine, so it's not my laptops Graphics card or my drivers.I haven't dropped it or anything,it just appeared on its own.
So is the screen buggered or does anyone here know of a fix ???

Maybe the screen / frame got slightly bent , perhaps from opening the laptop from the corner .
try gently bending it back straight .

    disclaimer
if it snaps right in half , well , it's one less thing to worry about ...

Is it definitely the screen or could it be the computer?

My first reaction would be to hook up the computer to a PC screen in order to see whether the problem really is with the screen.

It may be a computer component (graphics card?) that needs replacing.

You could do what Sony did when I took my ten day old laptop back with a similar problem. Backdate an insurance policy and then claim on it.
I see fish. They are everywhere. They don't know they are fish.

You can see from the screen shot it's not the graphics card and I said in the OP I have hooked it up to the TV and that's OK

From my limited experience, I think it is the connector which goes between the computer and screen. Either that or similar.....the screen AFTER the connector goes into it.
And all the tests you have done so far point to it being that.....I think.
Something like this happened to my friend's Hewlett Packard and it developed more and more lines. He eventually hooked it up to an external screen.

That's because a screen shot doesn't actually take a pic of the screen, it just grabs info on what is being sent to the screen.

Hopefully it is a connector issue as LD says, that should be a cheaper fix than replacing the screen.

The line seems to be fading

The wife said when I told her about the problem....." the line wasn't their when I cleaned your Laptop screen with WHIZ glass cleaner before you got up "

I said" Did any cleaner run into the bottom of the screen casing "

" Maybe Honey,I'm not sure " she replied

Lets see if it dries out completely by tomorrow and is back to normal

Sorry boloa, I went off and did something else after reading your post.

After seeing my secretary about to descend upon her new laptop with equipment more at home in an elephant enclosure I purchased some of these:
