As I see it, provides a single standard cable that lets me plug a monitor, ethernet, sound and usb ports into a laptop. Seems an attractive proposition and it has to be better than the overpriced model persific crap that some of the laptop venders sell.

Seems a logical and good enough reason, to me.

^now now mid no need for name calling.

It is quite simple butters is someone who possesses strong emissions and opinions on everything, unfortunately he also lacks the necessary, in fact any, logic and analytical skills to sensibly derive those opinions.... so he is a rather confused and opinionated chap. he is also a native french speaker of vauage origin which rather explains the above quite nicely

I doubt he's French, as in "French from France". My French friends and acquaintances are all pleasant to be around.

^ Don't forget he's a retard who likes sucking the katoey cock.

I think that adds to his instability.

^And whats wrong with his interest in manmade women, don't some people prefer their cloths made with manmade fibres.

I think the instability comes from the arguments between the right side of this brain that understands he is wrong most of the time and the left side the knows he is always right.

I wouldn't give it that much legitimacy - Belgium has an active culture, and Belgians are usually pretty cool folks; now Quebecquois, quite possibly, but by and large, they keep to themselves. Nt even Lichtenstein, as those guys certainly have their act together.

No, I think a more likely possibility is that he's from some former (and now abandoned) French colonies - Congo, maybe? Something in Africa? Is he dark-skinned? Does he speak with an incomprehensible accent? Does he enjoy the company of the Nigerians on Sukhumwit?

    Seriously, who really cares, though.

Back to thunderbolt - looks like Asus is jumping on that bandwagon with a pair of 27" displays.

ASUS debuts 27″ Thunderbolt monitor at Computex | Ubergizmo

Promise, makers of serious RAIDs, are releasing a thunderbolt to DUAL fiber channel adapter - this will enable their FC drive systems, or I assume other FC devices, to be TB enabled:

SANLink - Fibre Channel adapter using Thunderbolt Technology

Finally, there's drobo with a device that seems .. Useless:

Drobo previews its upcoming Thunderbolt storage at Computex | ZDNet

The company is showing off its first Thunderbolt-powered arrays at Computex in Taiwan. The Verge has some images, which show a pretty small, nice-looking device with room for two pairs of drives.
Strange choice of words. Why didn't they just say "Four"?

Oh dear, Chlusthsterfuck will be livid....

Apple yesterday released Thunderbolt Software Update 1.2, with the single comment that it "Adds support for the Apple Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter." Although it's unclear if all Thunderbolt-equipped Macs are affected, a number of people have reported that installing the update causes a variety of strange boot-related problems (kernel panics, getting stuck at the gray boot screen, "Unexpected error" messages, and more).
    Solution: reinstall Mac OSX. Simples!

Why Thunderbolt is better than USB 3.0?

Retina MacBook Pros run three external displays, refreshed Airs get dual external display support | 9to5Mac | Apple Intelligence

While Apple already recognized in its support documents for Thunderbolt that the new Retina MacBook Pro supports up to three external displays (as pictured above from Other World Computing’s recent tests of the setup), it has yet to confirm official support for the refreshed Ivy Bridge MacBook Airs. Today, we get word that the new MacBook Airs indeed support two external Thunderbolt displays thanks to the recent “Mac OS X Lion Update (Mid-2012 MacBook Air)” update that “improves external display support.” Apple has not updated the device’s specs page to reflect support for dual external Thunderbolt monitors.

The image below from OWC shows two iMacs running at 2,560-by-1,440 as Thunderbolt displays, and it shows an LG monitor at 1,920-by-1,200 via HDMI. The post noted “moving images and media didn’t create any lag and we were able to play video on all four displays simultaneously.” This makes the new MacBooks the first to support up to four displays at their native resolution. Note: You could theoretically add even more space with AOC DisplayLink displays.

The refreshed MacBook Air with dual external Thunderbolt displays is pictured above, while the MacBook Pro with three displays is below:

I believe I was addressing butterfly's mewling about USB 3.0 being the only interface anyone would ever need. This lays that to rest. It's probably also somewhat educational to the likes of mr.Barracuda.

Got me fooked why anyone would try to have a discussion about technology on TD. The whole thing gets dominated by knob-jockeys.

Yeah, gotta agree - the "tech" area appears dominated by dinosaurs, luddites, drunks and wash-ups. Pity, that. Maybe there's a need for a new area, or a new forum ...

    Don't be a moron.

The only reason Thunderbolt has any credibility is that Intel are the driving force behind it.
