    Memory Failure/5 year old notebook.

Is is possible for my notebook to recognize the RAM chips installed yet they do not function? I have heard they are susceptible to heat over time.
My notebook is getting slower even saying on occasion that I have insufficient memory but system still states I have the correct RAM installed.
You should never allow yourself to be held back merely by not knowing anything at all about anything.

If your RAM starts failing your PC will be crashing, locking up, etc.

The "Insufficient memory" type messages could be caused by almost anything.

Start by cleaning unwanted programs off, running a deep virus and malware scan, defragging, etc.
