    computor problem help please

    hi, and thanks for looking,

i have a hp mini notebook/computer i bought it approx 6 months ago in pp, it also has Thai and English keyboard/ fonts etc.

when i first used it, fine no problems everything ok, when i got back Thailand i gave it to someone to use, just recently i noticed they have another note book on enquiringly as to why, there is a fault with the hp.

what seems to be going wrong is for some reason you type the "a" key and whatever program/Google etc your typing into it then types something like "a4" ???

you type say the letter "g" and the notebook will put down "g34f" ???

its anoying to say the least as it's useless to use and ive checked the en box at the bottom etc and i cant seem to suss it out.

ive checked the hp forum and nothing similar, so i'm presuming its just a switch either i or someone has clicked by mistake??

if anyone has any ideas or suggestions that would be great, otherwise its off to wattanas on Monday morning

    again cheers for your input
please dont post anything on here and make this thread like thai visa.com, if its helpful its good, if it's not, it aint helpfull so dont waste either of our times.

Laptop Keyboard is Typing the Wrong Characters!

If you find that your keyboard is suddenly typing the wrong characters, it might be because you pressed a certain combination of keys that put the keyboard in a different mode.

You might find that instead of typing a question mark ?, you get this É, or instead of a quotation mark ", you get this ``.

This happens because your keyboard has three different modes that allow you to use some of the strange blue characters on your keyboard.

All you have to do to get your keyboard back to normal mode is press ctrl + shift keys together. Check to see if it's back to normal by pressing the quotation mark key (second key to the right of the L). If it's still acting up, press ctrl + shift again one more time. This should bring you back to normal. If you're not sure which keys they are, check the illustration below.

*If you want to find out what the three different modes do and how to access all the different characters on your laptop keyboard, click here.

I think it's typing the code for the actual letter, check out unicode on the net.

Open Notepad, then type the alphabet, then copy and paste the result on here

he might be a thick asse hole but so am i

    sabai sabi

your on the right tracks mate as it has made some chages, i have also gone through smittys list and his next lists to no avail, but now i cannot copy paste it as im on my pc.

i now type the letter "a" and it types "A1q"

    "b" is ok
    "c" is ok
    "d" "d3"
    "e" ok
    "f" "gf4"
now "g" is exactly same as "f" "gf4"

so now them both buttons giving same result would make me think, never ever lend it to a thai again until im clever enough to fix it

thanks for your help chaps i reckon, wattanas anything upto 2000 bhat fix, anything more stick it in bin

again thanks for your help and happy christmas and all that

It looks to be software, so shouldn't cost anything to fix; type a summary of your problem into google then follow a few threads - you'll likely sort it out quickly.

Looks like DD is onto something (other than the occasional LBs arse...); try goin into keyboard settings and check what's going on.

I would suggest Googling it, but I'm not sure if you'd get the right results googling

You could always use an external keyboard or a virtual one.

I know thats a bit of a pain though.

    Good Luck

Too bad I wasn't here then to help you.

If your computer starts doing something that it wasn't doing the day before, run System Restore.

    That should've been step #1.

Also, I'm surprised nobody told you to check the computer's keyboard input languages and delete anything that isn't English.
