Not true I'm afraid. A couple of Christmases ago my Mum sent me a new mobile phone & littl'un an expensive remote control car for Christmas. For a joke she addressed the parcel to my littl'un (completely Thai name). It got stopped, we had to journey to the nearest Customs office an hour away & they hit us for loads of money. If my littl'un hadn't been off school & so seen the opened parcel & his present, I'd have told them to keep the stuff & walked out.

Just checked an the Canon SL5i is a whopping 15,900. Dont fancy paying that much for an 8MP, shame as I like Canon.

Canons are a bit expensive when compared to other makes, but I still like them the best.

I had an EOS film a few moons ago when I was living in the UK. I only used it for hobby stuff and the odd sports event like grasstrack racing, so they always draw me back as Ive used them before. 16k's a bit steep for the S5Li with the being at about 58 makes it 275.

Does anyone know any sites within Thailand that sell these sorts of cameras?

Im limited to Tesco and Big C's selection at the minute whic is virtually the same 5 cameras

    Found this on my travels

    ѺͧԨԵشҤҨԧ

Theyre advertising the S5Is for 10,900. Only problem is I cant read a word of Thai and the Mrs is out. No idea if thats gonna have tax added, how much for shipping or if its a rip off altogether.

Im in the jungle so a trip to BKK without knowing the prices could be a waste of time. If I was heading to BKK I would go for Chinatown anyway. I was looking for online places, I'll wait til the Mrs gets home to give me the lowdown on the site in Thai.

Never buy your electronics in MBK. Nothing but bother from the sellers in there and they will sell you faulty merchandise without thinking twice about it especially if you are a foreigner. It's a tourist trap.

Yes, anything but Nikon..shit reliability, shit service, great lenses, but if the electronics fail...you are up shit creek! been there, screwed with a dud CP5700...never again. Stick with Canon or Fuji or Sony, beware the Nikon!
