    Looking for a maid

    My Farang friend is looking for a maid who can;

    1. Live in Maid
    2. clean the house
    3. all laundry and ironing
    4. care for Tasha Belle which includes cooking her food, feeding her, making sure she has water, giving her medicine (eye drops)
    5. food shopping
    6. cooking
    7. watering plants

Any recomendations are welcome. Maybe if you know agencies, that would be good.

    Cheers,
    Sharon

I do not think Thai maids want to be live in maids these days.
So the alternative is the Burmese.
But quite a hassle to get the permit (time consuming).
And if you do not get the permit, a bit risky to send them shopping.
Overall, if you do not mind doing your own shopping, they're a good choice...
Discussion is an exchange of knowledge, argument is an exchange of ignorance

I got a call from a few Burmese girls, damn... their English is just great but they are expensive though, one wants 11k and another one wants 12k a month.

My friend wants to pay only 7k-8k, anyway, they are interested still so I just arrange appointments for him and the 2 girls, actually not girls, they are 30+ already.

Nope, will do soon. Wife has to take her in register and all that stuff. She openly told us that she paid B7,000 to the immigration police at the boarder to cross into Thailand.

Of course she could've told you all this herself, had you made the delivery this evening as promised.

It seems Burmese are popular - we had a Burmese housekeeper in Singapore, fluent in English and didn't think the idea of a clean house was a quick sweep with the OTOP broom. Ah, we do miss her a lot.

Won't have a maid here, don't like the idea of Thai domestic staff after the travails we've had with Thais at work.

I'd also opt for the Burma solution.

ask to see it as it is quite common to fib on this point. it is also province specific so look for that. it isnt a work permit in the falang/teacher sense of the term but there is a method to the madness though it sometimes is a simple bribe at the cop shop.

I don't know all the legalities, but it seems there is a way of being nearly but not quite legal. We used to have a Burmese lad working for us at the center. I'm not sure exactly what he had but he had paperwork based on working with us, which we had to sign for every year, but the police still used to shake him down occasionally. It was never a problem for us, but could be for him. So, if your friend does employ a Burmese girl & wants it all legal, maybe he should check exactly what paperwork they have or need.

^ and take some responsibility to protect her from the shakedowns, threats and sex abuse from thai popo. thais, imo, are at their absolute worst in the way they treat the burmese*. terrible!

(* except for the lao, khmer, muslims, tards, midgets and anything else that is different.)

    me too.

Sharon, you can check the notices outside the front of Villa supermarkets.

BTW - 10K is pretty standard for a live in maid these days in BKK.

How they treat anyone defenseless. (especially Burmese, Lao and Cambos)

This has been one of the many huge eye-openers for me about Thais. Quite sad, really.
