Yes it does. Actually, it says two verbal warnings followed by two written.
In fact, to be safe, as Thai labour law is very employee friendly, follow the procedures set out in the work rules to the letter.
Thanks Will. Any other suggestion mate?
one would assume you have given both verbal warnings - right?

Ant, the babes need feeding *or at least a lady drink or two*
Yes, two verbal warnings. I even recorded the time and dates in his personal file.

Macha - on another more serious note, if you plan to go ahead with this, if you have an employee labour rep officer, make sure you serve the letter in front of the rep.

Also, make sure the bloke signs his real name. I once saw an employee served with a written warning sign Micky Mouse

    1. Description of infraction
It has been observed that you continuously arrive late at office, despite several verbal warnings, resulting in willful insubordination and gross negligence of duties, in your capacity as coordinator.
You are advised to submit a written explanation on your bad timekeeping as soon as you receive this letter.
Kindly treat this as very urgent.

    2. Plan for improvement
    Arrive office at 8 20am.

    3. Consequences of further infraction
Arriving late at office is a misconduct for which your are making yourself liable for necessary action. You are hereby warned to refrain from such activities; failure to do so shall invoke appropriate action.

Corrections and additions would be highly appreciated.
Not bad, but I would have tried it in English.

    Wink

And would a Thai know what an infraction is?? Might confuse it with an infection! I looked on Wikepedia and it is only used in American English, translates as a misdemeanour which doesnt sound right in English English either !!

Feck man, I don't want to have it in English. Angarish is the language of my choice.

You may wish to give a timeline or a specific in part 3.

i.e. - if you are observed arriving more than 5 minutes late again within the next month without a reasonable excuse then you may be asked to show good reason why your contract should not be terminated.

Don't give too many reasons either. Gives them something to argue over.

    Be straight to the point.

You have beeen observed coming late on xx occasions - dates

Any further lateness's will be seen as grounds to terminate your contract.

No flowery BS, no being nice about it, straight in for the kill and that is it.

How about 'repeatedly' or 'on several occasions'?

Yep, have the specific dates and times of his tardiness. Keep track of everything.
Can't you dock his daily pay for being late? At least one hour a day for 5-10 minutes after the time clock.
