    Taiwan and the bright lights

My visit to see a friend was terrific. Nothing wrong with Taipei. Great to be there.

    Lived there for 5+years !
If I could get a retirement visa there would be back like a shot
Real 'deja vu ' - I lived in the apartment on the right of the pic(with the green rails over the window ) for 3 of them !!!
    Spooky !!!

Was there last month for a week. The hot springs are worth a visit - easy to reach on the train/metro thing or jump in a cab for around 350 Baht, several resorts out there that might be worth a weekend stay.

Hotels v pricey. A modest 3 star hotel in central Taipei was still 4000b a night. Serious 5 star international places were asking 12000-20000 tb, can't see how that's value. Rooms in 3 star places v small too.

Taiwan money worth about the same as Thai monkey coinage so easy to know what's being spent
