TD, looking good and should keep the leccy bills down a bit.

I have heard different views on the stuff with some questioning the longevity of the foil but i assume if you have it securely encapsulated then the glass fibre should still do the job long term.

You've probably mentioned it elsewhere, but what are the electrical outlets over the windows/doors?

    Lights?

I only thought of that late in the build NPT, and he changed the ceiling design to accommodate it.

Hope he understands to tell the sparky to add some lighting in to the mix!!

More ceiling pix tomoz but I need to go n get a hot bath - should not really have worked today but you know how the pressure builds up...

TD, its going to look great and you will be in by xmas but maybe with a paintbrush in hand, it sounds like the lighting idea is still a WIP; LED?

I wish i could share your enthusiasm but the last time F1 got me out of bed was Senna & Mansell, too many rules, computer input and drivers with no personality now and i'm officially a curmudgeon.

It's done to lift the heat - hot air rises as we all know.

i have a 3m wall height then in the main upstairs rooms an additional 30-50 cm so not too bad i think

    Plot 1 update.

yeah.. most of you know that we had 'plot 1' our original purchase which was going to be the location of TD Towers, until we purchased plot 2 when it unexpectedly became available.

Since then plot 1 has nurchured those 120+ rubber trees and done little else.

It became horribly over grown as maybe you saw from previous photos, but mainly it had no boundary fence so was in effect open to anyone going in,chopping trees or tapping them, and generally making mischief

Also, the 'neighbour' had been steadily driving more and more over the corner of the plot, trying to establish some driveway extension so when we had the lull on the construction site I thought ...good time to sort this out.

First we got all the overgrowth cut back. No one got a snake bite so good news.

Then we called the land office to come and 're-affirm' the chanote markers. This was done, and I has k.pots team standing by to make a start on fencing immediately

this is how it started with me sketching fencing (lol...like he did not know) to the builder

    chanote 1...

    ..2, 3 and 4

    Then...we started digging 'that' corner.

This was when the trouble started...

like a red rag to a bull...

    ...and out he came immediately.

asked 'what was happening?' like he had no idea.

kept looking at his disappearing short cut.

luckily PJ was in fine form.:

him: 'cant you just 'give' a little bit so i can get the truck round?'
    PJ: 'really? its important?'
    him: 'yup'
PJ: well.. as is important, we could swap a bit... you have this corner and I can have half a rai from that land here RIGHT NEXT TO YOUR DRIVE.. durrrr!'
him..' i could probably move my drive?'
PJ: 'good idea. K.Pot will help you'
    him: 'thanks'
K.Pot: 'sure we can do what ever you want... just let me know and i will price it up!''

All fence lines lead up to the corner

They were making good progress - this line between us and this neighbour

The back line already in - no-one making a fuss there, of course.

Lol... we were of course maximising the land within the chanote area. This post about 2 microns from touching the chanote post!

    This line getting nearer...

    checking the depth

Not a bad job for now.

Couple of posts getting to know each other...

We could not see it but you bet those neighbour's curtains were twitching...

Almost at the corner. Note its the ladies again.

Taking a rest - its hot work with a pair of eyes burning into you from behind

    Another junction from earlier

So... been a bit quiet the last few days.

No- not lazy... there's a reason for it. Two actually.

1...K.Pot had a bit to do on one of his other jobs so...no issue there... we have never been held up due to his unavailability and 2....while he was away we had another little job to attend to 'off site'

    ...some more flooring

This is the ground level entrance hall - my 'tip of the hat' to Jim Thomson and his house in the middle of Bangkok.

Once its laid, I hope to build some similar display cabinets as he has in his entrance hall, albeit on a smaller scale

Here's a reminder for those not familiar with the Jim Thomson House:

It's advisable to start the visit very early or to spare a whole day in order to get a proper booking for the 15 minutes walk thru. Quite different to be there 30 years ago and nowadays...

I was there last time perhaps 4 years ago, just longing for the quiet surrounding and peaceful atmosphere I had kept in my mind from my first visit.

However admitted, the interest of tourists (and the organizing agencies ) has increased hugely. And there are many beautiful things to see that are no longer much available anywhere else in the country...

Totally agree, you step in and forget Bangkok and the 21st century... I hope I can re-create some of his jungle-type garden at TD Towers.

His is a real tranquil place and I would like a little of the same. Fascinating building complex too.

I drew inspiration from the whole thing.

In my first years whenever having few days free for travelling I had often driven to see towns and provinces known from Thai history to see something interesting from the old times.

However, what I had found (besides the numerous Wats, not always historically worth) were the ugly town units with the mess around, very rarely seeing something worth of the trip...

Balconies - latest update before painting / cleaning.

Here are the last few pictures of the main balcony and the balcony out from the master bedroom, with finished (although dirty) flooring and wooden handrails fitted all around.

    Main Bedroom

Just got the painting to do

Very happy with the floor tiles

    cleaning up...

Makes a great extension to the bedroom

Soon the folding doors are coming. He wants those in place before he starts on the Mae Daeng
