    Internal Wall rendering

Really starting to look and feel more home-like now they are smoothing over the block walls...

The finishing gang is hard at work...

A lot of concentration - most of these guys n gals have worked with K.Pot for years - and it shows.

Not a bad finish - what do you think?

Of course - there will always be flip-flops and trestles...

...and as always - the ladies are in the thick of it.

    General Progress

Rendering materials ready for the walls

The attention to detail - K.Pot's building crew know to tie the work cabling out of the way to reduce the chance of accidents

Access scafolding for the electrical cable installation

Initially this was too short (though it was to plan) - now the overhang has been lengthened

Bringing the floor for one of the WC's up to level ready for the tiling

The walls will all be finished with wooden skirting boards
(no...not got a picture of those yet as K.Pot has not bought the wood!)

    Let's build a roof!

So... can you remember waaaaay back? we started the roof?

Here's some flashback pics to help you remember...

    Ridge support in place...

    fitting the trusses

Remember? Complete with that dodgy welding (now fixed)

...and fitting the supports for the secondary roof over the windows.

Great view over that Palm plantation though...

    What about some battens...?

    Starting the
    placement.

Can you see it? Right on the corner....battens!

They work quick, hope no-one fell...

Looking from the living room towards zone 1

    ''Yeah...OK... take 5...''

The other guy cracked on though, towards the steepest bit now.

Plenty of batten material on site.

    Battens, part 2...

You can't be scared of heights...

Looks good but I know there is still a load of work to do...

View from inside the upper rooms. note the electrics have all been laid in...

    Roof curve detail...

Great mix of old and new - traditional bamboo looks up at new metal roof battens

Two pictures of the gable end showing the roof overhang at an angle, as per the Ayutthaya design

That same view over the palm plantation

    Thanks, Maanaam...

The thing that impresses me the most is pretty selfish actually...

lol ...it's the fact that this is my design, no one else's (though I pinched a couple of bits from other houses along the way).

From my original sketches on the back of a scrap-book, to learning how to use online plan-drawing software, to getting that turned into an auto-cad 'drwg', and then a set of 'proper' plans and finally...

... the OrBorTor office engineer saying.. 'yes.. that is good enough to build', without any changes was a great feeling for me.

But even that pales somewhat when those paper drawings become real 'brinks and mortar', and the house you envision becomes the house you can see for real.

Before the start, I never thought I could do it, but now it taking shape exactly as I planned - totally unbelievable!!!

Coming along nicely, still a fair bit to do though if he has 30 people on site won't take that long.
Are you going to put an alarm system in?

Hi there AP2... thanks for dropping in again!

I probably wasn't to clear earlier.

He's got 3 gangs in total... about 30 people 10 x 3 gangs, but only one gang working with me!

    i.e. 2 other jobs running.

    He's busy, not surprisingly...

yeah... full security system, starting with the discrete CCTV round the perimeter

A 2m + wall around the boundary + solid gates and external wall doors

zone alarm system in the house itself

We can close the shutters when away and i have a security system for the large-opening folding doors too

then there's the razor wire on top of the wall.

2 foot spikes sticking up from the shrubbery both sides of the wall ready for when any one jumps down

Im going to electrify that razor wire too and the external gate handles

and lastly... the previously-mentioned crocodile (hungry)

(those last 4 might not make it to the final version)

'spose I better make sure PJ knows how to lock the gate too...

You had better make it plain old barbed wire, razor wire is illegal as it is classed as a “war weapon”.
When the police raided the “flying saucer temple” a while ago when looking for the abbot for money laundering, one of the few charges they could make stick were for planning breaches and possession of a war weapon.....the razor wire they put up to keep the cops out.

Razor wire 'outlawed', Mike but broken glass stuck into concrete on the to of the wall is still 'OK"!!

see it a lot ... still being done. pretty gruesome. at least razor wire is visual, glass less so.

Maybe I just run the parallel wires with 5000v across the top. .... lol 'frying tonight'.

No ones going to break in anyway cos I'm friends with them all and they all know I am unique - the poor farang so nothing worth stealing...

^ That should suffice though you may want to consider a moat for the crocodile!
Are you not going to run the wiring for the alarm system before they finish the walls?

lol... if i tell you everything 'bout the alarm system, AP2, (esp 'where the wires are') then its not going to protect much when you come looking for some replacement Mogen toilets while I'm on a trip somewhere!!!

(p.s. the spare front door key will be under the plant pot on the left of the door, same like it is in 50% of UK households......)

^ You may consider selling your plans to others. It really is looking like something that others would want.
