As per the BBC DVD of the OGWT I am watching and listening to at the moment The Wailers first UK performance was on the show. They had to bring along Chris Blackwelll the head of the Island record label to act as translator as the beeb staff at the time could not understand their "English"

I am watching and listening to more of the OGWT DVD.
I have just played two memorable recordings from 1978
    Talking Heads - Psycho Killer
Meatloaf - Paradise by the Dashboard Light.

I really wish I had seen Taling Heads live. Stop Making Sense is a great live album/dvd. The bove song always reminds me of my first son as it was the first song he would sing around the house- scared a few of the neighbours.

If the appearance fee in 1978 on OGWT was still GBP 15 then the beeb got value for money with Meatloafs performance - terrific.

Now back to CD's and Richard Thompson - Mock Tudor

The Go_Betweens Darlinghurst Nights - I've not much to say about this track except that I think it is a song that would hit home on the very first hearing for every single person living on the Earth at this moment in time....except for one grumpy bastard in Ecuador who would absolutely hate it.

The Gossip - Standing in the Way of Control.....Even that grumpy bloke from Ecuador would like this album - It is brilliant - but don't take my word for it, ask him if you don't believe me....As you read this he's probably listening to it and dancing with llamas.

Kings of Leon - On Call - I like the vocalist of this band....I mean by that that I like the way he sings. I don't like 'him'. I don't even know him. Why would I?

Smog, not the atmospheric condition, the recording artist Bill Callaghan. At the moment it's 'Rock Bottom Riser'....It's not cheering me up none; think I'll have to change it before I throw myself out of the window in despair...I live on the ground floor, but it's the thought that counts.

I have the album Superwolf. I started another listen tonight, but I'm in the mood where I need some jollification so I swapped it for Patrick Wolf - The Magic Position and now I'm smiling.

I rented the Later Louder DVD the other week and the two stand out tracks were Sonic Youth Sugar Kane and an absolutely blasting version of Accelerator by Primal Scream....P J Harvey (Big Exit) and Garbage (I think I'm Paranoid) were also special....Worth a view if you have the chance.

Still watching/listening to bits of the OGWT DVD.
    Kevin Ayers - May I
    Roy Harper
A terrible session from The Damned. Played the hard guys and tried to destroy the studio set.

And the excellent Nils Lofgren - Going Back.
Close to being 3/4 of the way through now.
    Shame
